Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 117

Pleasure’s all mine, Claire,I greeted with a smile. Where are you headed?.

To the supermarket for groceries! I’m going to make something delicious. You’re a lucky man!she chirped. Are you busy? If not, do you want to come along and help hunt for groceries?

Claire leaned her head toward me unconsciously.

I caught the scent of her shampoo. She had just showered, and she wore a short shirt with black straps and tiny shorts that revealed her long, fair legs.

I could even see the valley between her breasts if I looked down.

Uh, hem! I’m game,I said. Let’s go.

I had intended to look away from her chest, but my exwife shared the elevator. Hera’s presence forced me to revise my plan. I would join Claire on her trip, knowing Hera would never tag along. Finally, I could shrug her off.

Hera teetered on the edge of losing her composure. Somehow, I stayed friendly with a beautiful stranger while giving her not a single drop of warmth.

She grimaced, and when she finally spoke, her voice trembled. YYou two are living together?!

Claire turned to her in surprise. She had just noticed Hera. Huh? You know her?

Hera didn’t wait for me to answer. Of course! I’m his wife! Now tell me! Have the two of you been living together?!

Claire stared at me,

eyes

wide.

I didn’t deny it. I added, We’re in the process of divorcing.

Excuse me?! I never agreed to that! Never! You can’t divorce me! You can’t leave me!Hera shrieked.

Claire ignored her hysteria, wrapped her arm around mine, and rested her head on my shoulder.

Mmhmm. Done braying like a donkey, Miss SoontoBeExWife? You guessed right. We are living together, she said. You know what two people usually do when they cohabit, don’t you? Face it. He really likes me. So stop humiliating yourself and

finally accept that you’re someone he used to know. Just leave.

Her words stunned Hera.

I was surprised as well. I hadn’t expected Claire to step in.

First there was RheaNow thiswoman you’re living withHow many more? How many more women have you been seeing behind my back?!Hera howled. Her face flushed, and her eyes were misty.

None of your business,I replied.

I could almost hear her heart breaking.

The elevator finally reached the ground floor.

I thought Hera was finally conceding, but I was wrong. She glared at me with bloodshot eyes. I’ve never lost any race or competition in my life! Never! I don’t care how many mistresses you’ve kept. I won’t lose. I will not let you go!

She stormed out of the elevator, tears trailing down her cheeks.

It was the first time I had seen her cry for me. But it was too late. The tears of a traitor were worthless.

Claire and I left the elevator and headed to the supermarket, but neither of us spoke.
