I reeled. Now it made sense why I had never heard of these people. The Astregrad Four were so elite that their existence remained hidden from ordinary folks like me–until today.

Terry Amos had set his sights on one of our own, and I had responded by blooding his nose.

With the resources of a family like the Amoses, it would not take long for them to discover our company. We could easily be crushed financially before taking even our first real steps.

I inhaled sharply. “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. We might want to avoid trouble, but that doesn’t mean we’ll let it tyrannize us. I don’t care if he’s the heir to some powerful family. If the Devil himself harasses one of my people, I’ll sock him in the eyes too!”

I had made my stand. I would end this feud with Terry today. If we let it fester and follow us while we fled, they would only grow bolder and hunt us down until we were gone. Retreat was not an option. We had to fight head-

None of them had ever worked for someone who cared about their well–being and would defend them simply because they were his employees. Everyone else had only cared about profit and personal gain. Even Baron Inc. would likely compromise with Terry to protect the company.

He had only just started his business, yet he refused to let that stop him from defending his people.

His courage was so potent that his employees nearly forgot they were facing one of the Astregrad Four. Right now, they felt a desire to follow him to the ends of the Earth. What fear could they have when their boss would shield them from harm?

If Sleeping Giant survived this trial, they would become the giant’s fiercest weapons.

Lucas thought better than to advise caution after hearing my resolve. “Alright. I’ll give Mr. Goldman a call now.”

Jeanine sat quietly, guilt etched across her face. Tears welled in her eyes. “This is all my fault. I’m sorry I brought this on us, Mr. Grimwald. You should take everyone else and leave. He wants me, right? So I’ll stay.”

It was the least she could do. Knowing what her boss was willing to risk for her, she refused to drag anyone else into danger.

I took her hand and patted it gently. “Don’t say that. You’re one of my people. I’m your boss. Of course I have to defend you. You can’t fight that piece of shit alone! Don’t be scared. Your boss is here!”
