**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream**
**by Alyndra Meron Valeen**
“Don’t you see, good doctor? I am compelled to act to rectify a grave injustice against my grandson,” Harvey declared, a heavy sigh escaping his lips, laden with exhaustion. “It would be profoundly unjust otherwise!”
Baron, unable to contain his fury, shot back, “Fuck your bullshit, old man! Your precious grandson sexually harassed my mentor’s employee and threatened everyone who dared to stand up for her! My mentor had no choice but to strike Terry in self-defense!” His voice thundered through the room, fueled by a mix of anger and desperation.
He needed to raise his voice, to ensure that the doctor did not fall prey to the old man’s deceit and abandon them to their fate. Baron contemplated the weight of his words; he could expose the truth, lay bare the entire situation, but would that truly guarantee their safety? The thought gnawed at him.
“Shut up!” Harvey barked, his eyes narrowing as he shot a sharp glare at Flint. Flint, ever obedient, responded with a swift motion, hurling a bottle directly at Baron’s throat.
The bottle shattered with a sickening crack, and in that instant, Baron felt as if his throat had been torn apart. Gasping, he struggled to breathe, blood spilling from his mouth as the searing pain rendered him momentarily speechless.
Metis, observing the chaos unfold, frowned deeply. “Did you just command your man to inflict harm on someone in my presence?” she questioned, her voice laced with disbelief.
“He’s merely a distraction, Dr. Fey. He’s distorting the truth to manipulate your perspective,” Harvey replied, a chuckle escaping him, dripping with false bravado. “Seeing is believing, is it not? You witnessed my grandson’s injuries. Yet, look at that young man—he appears perfectly unscathed. Could he truly have been attacked?”
Harvey reveled in his own cleverness, believing he had the upper hand with visible evidence and a veneer of politeness. He thought that unless the doctor allowed her emotions to cloud her judgment, she would likely retreat, dismissing the entire incident as a mere “family affair.”
But he was wholly unprepared for Metis’s response, which struck harder than the slap she had delivered to his grandson earlier.
“Do you suffer from the same affliction when it comes to understanding intent, Mr. Amos? I am not here to seek justice. I am here to defend him. I stand unwaveringly with Sebastian Grimwald, regardless of the circumstances. You will not lay a finger on him!”
