Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 167

**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen 167**

“Understood. Let’s reschedule this dinner for another time,” Evanna said with a gentle nod, her voice imbued with a warmth that belied the tension in the air. She continued, “Don’t you fret, dear. I have every confidence that Sebastian is a fine young man, far removed from the reckless playboy that my son has become. My instincts about character have always been reliable, so trust me on this one!”

Metis offered a grateful nod in response. “Thank you, Mrs. Goldman,” she replied, her voice tinged with relief.

Evanna’s unwavering belief had soothed much of the ire that had been bubbling within Metis, allowing her to reflect more thoughtfully on her feelings. If Sebastian was indeed meant to be her one true love, what was the harm in granting him a bit more time? Why not embrace a little more patience in her heart?

After all, wasn’t it only through spending time with him that she could truly uncover who Sebastian was beneath the surface?

I had hailed a cab to whisk me away to the restaurant where Jeanine was waiting. The ride was a mere ten minutes from Metis’ clinic, a brief moment of solitude before I would plunge back into the social whirl.

Just as I was about to step into the restaurant, ready to meet Jeanine, I caught sight of a familiar silhouette that sent a ripple of surprise through me. It was James Canien—Rhea’s father!

A wave of curiosity washed over me. It had been some time since I last saw Rhea, and I found myself wanting to inquire about her well-being.

However, as soon as I made my presence known to James, his expression shifted, darkening like a storm cloud. “Have you been following me?” he spat, suspicion lacing his words.

“No, Mr. Canien,” I replied, striving to keep my voice steady. “I’m here to meet a client.”

Ever since that unfortunate incident on the night I was supposed to take Rhea out, my life had been spiraling in unexpected directions at a dizzying pace. Rhea hadn’t reached out to me since then, and a gnawing worry crept into my thoughts. Was she upset with me? After all, I had been far from polite to her father.

I took a breath, forcing myself to soften my tone, hoping to mend the rift. “How has Rhea been lately, Mr. Canien? I truly hope she’s doing well.”
