**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen**
**Chapter 187**
In that moment, clarity washed over Hera, and she resolved to embrace the plan that had been laid out before her.
With a firm nod, she replied, “Thank you for talking sense into me, Mila. I truly feel so much better now.”
Mila’s eyes sparkled with determination. “You’re welcome. We women must always prioritize our own needs. We should never allow men to trample over us.” Gripping Hera’s hand tightly, she repeated her words, embedding them deep within her friend’s heart, like seeds planted in fertile soil.
Yet, unbeknownst to Hera, a web of deception spun by Mila and Edmund was tightening around her. Her trust in Mila was unwavering, a blind faith that bordered on foolishness.
As I stepped through the threshold of my home, I was immediately enveloped by the rich, tantalizing aroma of a meal being prepared. My gaze fell upon Claire, who was diligently working in the kitchen, her movements graceful yet purposeful.
“Why are you cooking again, Claire?” I exclaimed, a hint of disbelief lacing my voice.
The sight of her back stirred memories of the last culinary disaster she had caused, where flames had danced dangerously close to engulfing the kitchen. My heart raced at the thought, and I hurried towards her, concern etched on my face.
This time, however, the scene was a stark contrast to that chaotic episode. The kitchen was calm, everything neatly in place, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Claire, sensing my presence, turned abruptly and collided with my chest, her eyes wide with surprise. “Oh! When did you come in? You scared me!”
“I just got back. What’s happening? It’s so late… Are we expecting guests?” I inquired, studying her closely.
Her brow glistened with beads of sweat from the effort of cooking, and her cheeks radiated warmth that only deepened my confusion.
With a bright smile, she shook her head. “Of course not. I just wanted to make all this for you.”
