“How dare a worthless, idle fool compete with Mr. Grimwald over a woman? Kicking you to death would be mercy!”
Lawrence’s words were heavy. Everyone present froze, completely stunned.
Were they dreaming? Lawrence was actually about to kill his own son over that coward Sebastian? Sebastian was supposedly a business prodigy even more formidable than Lawrence himself?
“How is that even possible?” Jack muttered and slapped himself in disbelief, hoping it was all a nightmare.
Cecil, standing beside him, finally reacted. Shock flashed across his face as he stepped forward to block Lawrence. “Mr. Blanc, could there be a mistake? Sebastian is just my daughter’s boyfriend, the one she brought home. He’s not some Mr. Grimwald. Even the birthday gift he brought today was paid for by my daughter.”
Lawrence’s chest surged with even hotter fury. “Nonsense!”
Without hesitation, he turned and slapped Cecil hard across the face.
Cecil crashed to the floor, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Unfortunately for him, Lawrence was far from done. He seized the moment, pointed a finger at Cecil’s nose, and cursed violently, “You brainless fool! You rejected a perfect son–in–law like Mr. Grimwald and expect my son instead?
“What? Mr. Grimwald could buy your entire family! If it weren’t for you, my son would never have clashed with him… Did your mother forget to give you a brain when she gave birth to you?”
In seconds, Lawrence completely abandoned any sense of decorum, reducing the McKays‘ decision- maker to a verbal punching bag in the middle of their living room.
Yet no one dared speak. Even Cecil could only sit there, covering his face in stunned silence.
I cleared my throat lightly. “That’s enough, Mr. Blanc. Today is Mrs. McKay’s birthday. Please mind your words.”
Lawrence’s eyes widened as he remembered. Cold sweat broke over him, and he slapped himself twice, hard. “Oh, my foul mouth! Mr. Grimwald, I deserve a beating!”
The scene struck everyone like a thunderclap. The man they had all despised as a coward had forced a renowned Astergrad entrepreneur to slap himself in public. Just how terrifying was Sebastian’s true identity?
Fear rippled through the room.
Charice, Jack, and Sandy–the ones who had shouted the loudest–now wanted nothing more than to disappear.
