Goodbye Saintess (by Edelweiss W.S.) novel Chapter 36

I pulled my head back and ducked out of Rhea’s reach. She didn’t seem to notice, or at least, she was too busy talking to react.

When you pushed me down on the bed and saved me, did you know what I felt? Nothing. I didn’t feel violated at all. That’s when I knew you were different from all the other men,she said.

I blinked in surprise. Why do you have to make it sound so strange?

She fell silent. In fact, she stopped talking altogether. I called her name twice, louder the second time, but it seemed she had already checked out.

God, why did you even suggest drinking if you’re such a lightweight?I sighed and helped her to her feet. She was clearly done

for.

I had no idea where she lived, so I decided to find her a hotel to crash at for the night.

I lifted her by the waist and let her rest her head on my shoulder. She looked like a comically oversized toddler. Hey, Rhea. I’m going to get you to a hotel, okay? And don’t you dare throw up on me.

I headed toward the nearest hotel in sight.

Luckily, the place she had chosen was right in the heart of Astergrad’s commercial zone. It didn’t take long to find a highend hotel worthy of a princess.

Five minutes later, I entered the lobby and went straight to the concierge.

Good evening. I need a room,I said, showing my ID card.

The receptionist glanced at me, then looked at Rhea with a knowing expressionas if she’d seen this kind of scene before.

May I see her ID, please?she asked, routine but firm.

Before I could respond, Rhea reached into her handbag and pulled out her card. Here

Whoa, you’re up already?I asked, surprised.

I had been ready to set her down just moments ago. I knew that beneath her flirty, moderngal act, Rhea held conservative views on these matters.

She didn’t reply. It was as if her sobriety had lasted only a moment.

Was this some kind of act?

The receptionist handed me a keycard. Here you go, Mr. Grimwald. Level 6, Room 603. Take this elevator, then turn left.

Thanks.I took the card and started toward the elevators. Whether she was faking or not, I needed to make sure she was safe in her room.

Unbeknownst to me, after I disappeared into the lift, the receptionist’s professional smile faded into a serious frown. She called a colleague to cover her desk, then strode into the manager’s office.

She made a phone call.

Who the hell is this? What’s the big idea? I’m trying to have fun!a gruff voice bellowed.

Apologies for disturbing you, Mr. Goldman. This is the hall manager of The Baron’s Hotel. I have something to report, she said respectfully, as if hoping for a reward.

What do you want?

I believe I saw Miss Canien checking into a room here with another man,she answered.

1/2

What? You mean Rhea?!the man thundered, silencing even the room he was in.

Yes, sir.

Are you sure? The Caniens told me she’s mine!

I am certain it was her,the hall manager replied confidently. The receptionist stepped away for a moment, so I took over her

shift. That’s when Rhea Canien and the man arrived. I even saw her ID card.
