The manager stood with his sentence unfinished, watching Landon disappear up the steps.
The executives exchanged confused looks. Something big was happening? What could it be? Why didn’t anyone have a clue?
They all stood frozen, unsure what to do next. Finally, the manager gathered his

“Pick up, man. Your woman is dating others.” Landon tapped Eugene’s number quickly, but it went straight to voicemail.
“Damn it!” Hearing the automated message, Landon cursed under his breath. Seriously, Eugene was about to lose his chance. Wasn’t he worried at all?
Landon was so worked up he started pacing. This was the worst possible timing. It was still early evening–was Eugene already asleep? That didn’t make any sense! The night was young–what was he doing in bed?
After muttering a few more curses, Landon remembered Bruce. Bruce was always by Eugene’s side. Maybe he’d get lucky and Bruce would answer. It was worth a try.
He found Bruce’s number and called. This time, Bruce picked up after two rings.
“Bruce, where’s Eugene?”
Landon didn’t wait for a greeting, practically shouting into the phone.
“Sir, Mr. Rosewood is in an international video call. Is this urgent?”
Hearing that, Landon exploded. “To hell with the video call! I don’t care how you do it, get Eugene to call me back right now.”
“This meeting involves all the international division heads. Mr. Rosewood is leading it himself. It won’t end for another hour. Right now really isn’t-”
Landon cut him off, his voice rising. “This is more important than any meeting. Believe me, if you know what’s good for you, tell Eugene I have critical news. He’ll regret it if he doesn’t call.”

Bruce paused for a second, then lowered his voice. “Understood. Give me a moment.”
Bruce didn’t hang up. Landon could hear footsteps, then Bruce entering a room and whispering to Eugene.

A moment later, Eugene’s deep voice came through the phone. “Landon, this better be important. Hope this is worth interrupting an international conference, or you’ll regret it.”
Landon snorted. “Trust me, you’ll thank me later. Your woman is dating others and you’re still sitting in meetings.”
“Landon, don’t joke about it. She won’t.” Eugene’s voice was cold.
“Do I sound like I’m joking?” Landon shot back. “Your precious Chloe just got picked up by some pretty boy. They’re having a great time at my club right now.”
Before Eugene could respond, Landon continued taunting him.
“Are you even capable of keeping her interested? In just a few days, some delicate–looking guy beat you to it. I’ve got to hand it to Chloe–she’s got charm. That guy looks at her like she’s the only woman in the world.” Landon’s voice grew louder. “Eugene, feeling the pressure? She clearly likes the pretty–boy type, not your tough, mature style!”
Landon hadn’t even finished speaking when the call went dead.
Staring at his phone, Landon smirked.
Knowing how Eugene operated, he was sure the man would be heading to the Nightfall Club.
The only question was how fast he’d get there. Normally, it was a thirty–minute drive from Eugene’s location. If he pushed it, maybe ten.
The real question was–could Eugene make it in time to catch them together?
Well, it wasn’t like he’d actually won Chloe’s heart yet, so technically it wasn’t cheating.
