“Carolyn, you think Chloe’s got any money for a taxi right now? I’m dying to see her begging on the streets -dragging that little brat along with her.”

Carolyn joined in the cruel laughter. Before today, she had imagined countless scenarios of crushing Chloe. beneath her heel. Now it had happened so effortlessly, without her even having to lift a finger.

It was almost too easy.

After leaving the Lewis Manor, Chloe had no need to worry about getting a taxi. A sleek, imposing G–Class was already waiting for her in a discreet location nearby.

The moment Chloe appeared, the vehicle glided smoothly to a halt before her.

The window rolled down, revealing Zachary in the driver’s seat, grinning widely. “My dear princess, welcome to your new life! I’ve already reviewed the severance agreement–it’s airtight. You are officially, and completely, free from the Lewis family.”

“Mommy, we have to celebrate! You got Grandma’s jewelry back!” Robert popped his head up from the back seat, his face beaming at her.

“Alright, my treat!” Chloe laughed, opening the door and sliding into the passenger seat.

No sooner had she settled in than Robert leaned forward from the back, his eyes alight with mischievous excitement. “Mommy, can I hack the Lewis Group’s systems now? One little slip from me, and their system bugs get exposed! They’ll be stuck with the mess, go bankrupt soon enough, and that’s definitely gonna be hilarious!”

“Not yet. Let them enjoy their little victory a while longer.” Chloe’s lips curved into a sly, knowing smile. “The higher they climb, the harder they’ll fall.”

A chuckle escaped Zachary. “I can’t believe you severed ties with the Lewis family so cleanly. I thought that whole den of vipers would put up more of a fight. I guess I overestimated them!”

“It’s called using their own tactics against them–leaving them with no way out.” Chloe smiled coolly, resting her arm on the window frame. She looked sharp and formidable, her beauty edged with an icy chill.

Arthur returned home from work to find Jennifer and Jenarth waiting for him in the living room. Two packed suitcases–one large, one small–stood beside them.

“Jenarth, it’s all my fault. I failed you… I’ve ruined you.” Jennifer staggered backward, her legs giving way.
