So what if the mall manager got involved? If they caught a thief, the only thing to do was call the police. A theft charge would stick to Chloe’s record forever.
Thinking this, a smug look flashed in Nancy’s eyes. She gave Carolyn a meaningful glance.
Carolyn understood promptly. She stepped in front of Nancy, blocking her from view. Even if someone looked their way, they’d only see Carolyn, completely hiding Nancy’s actions.
Nancy worked quickly and smoothly. When she was done, she signaled Carolyn again.
The two of them worked together like a well–practiced team. The lack of security cameras in the mall made their plan even easier.
Carolyn and Nancy exchanged a sly, satisfied smile.
The Belle Mall manager was being extremely friendly to Chloe. He offered to personally guide her around the mall, pointing out various highlights and recommending items she and Robert might like.
“Thank you, but I don’t plan to continue shopping. I have other matters to attend to,” Chloe declined simply. Her eyes scanned the area before settling on Nancy.
“Ms. Steffes, leaving so soon?”
Chloe’s words made Nancy, who was trying to slip away unnoticed, freeze instantly. All eyes turned toward
them.
Nancy stopped and turned back, forcing an awkward smile. “Ms. Lewis, what do you mean? I wasn’t planning to leave!”
Inside, she was cursing. Her attempt to leave was just an act to draw Chloe’s attention, hoping Chloe would focus on her so the plan could proceed. This was exactly the reaction she wanted.
“Ms. Steffes, you promised to buy out the entire counter. It seems that was just empty talk,” Chloe said coolly, her expression unreadable.
“Oh, Ms. Lewis, I was just being playful earlier,” Nancy said, stepping closer with a softened voice. “I heard some rumors and misunderstood you. That was my mistake, and I’m truly sorry.”
Nancy apologized first, sounding completely sincere.
Chloe raised an eyebrow slightly.
Nancy approached Chloe and bowed her head slightly. “Ms. Lewis, I’m sorry for my words and actions earlier. It was my fault, but my intentions weren’t bad. Like I said, if there’s anything else you like, please let me pay for it as an apology, alright?”
Before Chloe could respond, Nancy’s gaze fell on the necklace box in Chloe’s hand.
“I really like this necklace too, so I got a bit carried away. Since you’ve purchased it, Ms. Lewis, would you mind if I held it for a moment?” Nancy looked sweet and eager, her smile genuine–none of the earlier arrogance remained.

Chapter 97 The Stolen Ring
Honestly, anyone seeing Nancy’s suddenly friendly demeanor would likely let their guard down.

Seeing Nancy’s abrupt change in attitude, Chloe hid a faint smile and handed her the necklace box.
Nancy took the box and carefully opened it in front of everyone. The blue diamond necklace sparkled brilliantly under the lights.
“This necklace is truly beautiful. It suits you perfectly, Ms. Lewis,” Nancy said, gently stroking the necklace. After admiring it, she carefully placed it back in the box and returned it to Chloe.
Her movements were so smooth that no one noticed the moment she slipped a ruby ring into Chloe’s pocket as she handed back the box.
Nancy and Carolyn thought they had executed their plan flawlessly. But from the floor above, Eugene and Landon saw everything clearly.
Standing on the upper level, they had a perfect view of Nancy framing Chloe.
