HER DARK ALPHA novel Chapter 3

(REMI'S POV)

Loud roars of thunder hitting the sky outside, I stepped hurriedly into the large auditorium.

Fuck! I hated thunderstorms so much. And the lightning bolts flashing outside only highlighted the terror I already felt.

But pushing the door shut behind me, I was suddenly faced with vast darkness. Almost immediately, a lump formed in my throat as the chilling hands of fear gripped my heart yet again.

Jax had said he wanted to meet in the school's auditorium after school. That was nine hours ago. Nine hours since they subjected me to the most humiliating experience yet.

Leaving school almost immediately after the incident, I was only lucky to have gotten home before my parents and cleaned myself up.

It was very easy to fake some reason for leaving school before closing period. I just told them I had a stomach ache. Even though they felt I was hiding something, my parents didn't probe me about it.

Yes, I felt terrible for lying to my family, but I couldn't help it. I was doing all this for their sake.

They wouldn't waste time in seeking justice over all the bullying I endured if ever they found out about it but against the Alpha's family and the other powerful families, what chance did they have?

Sneaking out of the house had been easy despite the storm outside.

“Hello? Is anyone here?” I called out while trying to pick the presence of another person. Unfortunately, my senses were not as sharp as they should've been, considering my wolf wasn't fully developed.

Well, not until tomorrow. I almost smiled, recalling my birthday was coming up tomorrow. I was finally turning eighteen!

It wasn't just about achieving the full potential of your wolf, the eighteenth birthday held a lot of relevance to werewolves because at this age, we'd officially have the ability to find our fated mates.

In the past, I would fantasize about ending up with the only werewolf I had ever loved, Jax. About building a wonderful family while taking up the role of his perfect Luna and leading our pack

But even I knew that was impossible and the cold facts facing me only confirmed how my dreams would never be a reality. Jax had already turned eighteen but he hadn't found his mate yet. At least not in our pack.

In the meantime, his little vixen of a puppet, Sophia, hung glamorously around him, certain they'd get married at some point in the future.

I'd really want to see what a slap it'd be to her face once he found his true mate and kicked her out of his life for good.

Although it did not seem quite likely, considering how deep their relationship seemed, I couldn't help but think about it. And sadist or not, I always ravished the idea of Sophia's pain.

Anyway, I had learnt to confine my imaginations to my reality and recently, all I could hope for was that I was mated to a high ranking mate who would help take me out of my misery.

It still felt far fetched but it was much more realistic than hopelessly fantasizing about the one person who despised me the most.

But back to the present, “Hello? Anyone?” My voice reverberated through the empty auditorium, uttering a silent curse when I received the same result.

Bringing out my phone, I searched quickly for a contact and tapped on it.

Jax had better not have tricked me again. I held the phone to my ear and listened to it ring. Just then, the lights came on and a round of applause hit my ears.

Turning my gaze in the direction of the noise, I was greeted by the sight of Jax leisurely lounging on one of the seats with his long legs crossed over each other.

“I really didn't expect you'd come,” he said, showing off his famous smirk.

My heart sped. A simple smile had my knees turning jelly. What the heck was wrong with me?

“Y-you said we could work something out,” I stuttered as he approached, hating how I couldn't form a whole sentence without my anxiety interfering.

The moment his spicy scent filled my senses, my rational thoughts were blanked out.

Oblivious to his effects on me, Jax climbed up the stage. He walked around me, trailing his gaze down my body. “True. I won't upload that video of you if you are able to perform a simple task.”

Something about his tone set off alarm bells in my head, but I maintained a straight expression as I awaited his orders.

“Tell me quickly. So I can get this done with,” I muttered. The sooner the better.

At once, Jax stopped. A chuckle left his lips and it did nothing but deepen the dread hanging in the atmosphere.

“Aren't we anxious?” Lazily, he drawled in a mocking tone. I did not respond, choosing to clutch the sides of my hoodie.

Jax tracked the movement before rolling back with another chuckle.

“Here's the deal, little nerd. I know you're an inexperienced brat, daddy's lil princess locked up in her castle, face always in her books…”
