Wynta
It was just over an hour when she was called to go to the boardroom on the 10th floor for that meeting that Dwane had told her she would have to attend. Regarding the assault that had taken place in her office. She made her way there and upon entering the room she found it wasn’t just her and Dwane plus Carlotti as she expected it to be.
But in this room was also Jared, Edward and his unit, along with Carlotti, who was seated next to Jared. She sat there looking all smug, like she thought she’d already won, that she knew everyone in this room was going to take her side and Wynta would be punished or fired.
Wynta sighed as she sat down in the seat she was directed to, right next to Edward, and he frowned at her. “What happened to your face?” he reached out and pointed to her split lip,
She moved her eyes to Carlotti, “She slapped me with her wolf behind the hit. I not having a wolf, can’t heal it like you all can.”
“Oh, right, like you’re wolf–less, I can smell you’re a she–wolf from here.” Carlotti rolled her eyes.
“I think Carlotti, you’d be wrong about that,” Jared stated.
“Very wrong,” Edward commented. “Wynta is, in fact, wolfen yes, but she is without wolf.”
She watched as Carlotti turned and stared at her, and she saw her smell her now as she used her wolf to try and pick that up.
“So,” Jared murmured, “You claiming that she assaulted you, and actually injured you, I don’t actually see it. Does anyone else in this room think Wynta here could harm Carlotti, to the point she was still hugging her injury 30 minutes later and grimacing in pain, which I saw with my own eyes?”
Wynta shook her head, as she realized just what lengths that she–wolf was going to, to see her get fired from her job, and for what? She didn’t understand, but as she thought about it, maybe Carlotti thought that she was interested in Jared. Which she wasn’t. She also didn’t think Edwards‘ son was at all interested in her like that either.
But perhaps Carlotti saw her as a threat to that so–called secret relationship they were having which would come to light in this room soon enough. No, had been the resounding comment in the room from Jared’s question.
She waved it off, “I don’t really care about that, was all she stated, and then asked to hear what the actual complaint against her was and in detail, asked to hear it from Carlotti herself. She did that, so everyone could hear that she–wolf state why she’d gone to her office and why there was a complaint of her assaulting Carlotti before she refuted it all.
Wynta sat there in her chair quietly and listened to the woman complain and whinged almost about how it was wrong of Wynta to attack her, when she’d only gone there to apologize for the injuries she’d sustained after Jared put her out of the car. Wynta even nodded along as though she agreed with all of it.
Then they watched the footage, that was available. Which was nothing about the incident at all, because that incident had happened during a system security update. Which Dwane explained to them all, about how they had gone to security and verified it. So, all they saw was Carlotti walking through marketing and into her office and that was it. So now it was her word against Carlotti’s and didn’t that make that she–wolf smile all smugly right at her once more.
Wynta shook her head, unphased by the woman’s smugness, She was going to wipe.
right off her face in just a few minutes. “So, Carlotti, you came to apologize to me, did you?” She stated, sounding dismayed by the girl’s brazen statements, “And after you apologized to me, I just happened to throw all my own stuff onto the floor… got this split lip all on my own did I. That’s a bit odd don’t you think, did I slap myself? Why would I do that? What would be the point of it all? And just what about an apology would make me do that?” she asked in return,
“You did it because you’re angry at me, because Jared put you out of his car and came to get me. I didn’t even know you were in that car with him. You were angry that he put a pack member before a rogue,” Carlotti stated, and she made it sound as if she was upset.
“Wait a minute,” Ernesto murmured. “Everyone knew Jared was going to be bringing Wynta. Edward did not keep that a secret. He thought it was very funny to make his boy do that, because of how hard Wynta is to handle. Half the pack were expecting a screaming match when they arrived.” He half laughed. “So Lotti, you did know about Jared having Wynta in his car that day.”
“I forgot.” Carlotti waved it off. “It didn’t concern me,” she stated dismissively.
“Moving on,” Edward stated.
“Yes let’s,” Wynta smiled at him. She could actually refute what Carlotti had just stated as the reason she’d supposedly attacked her., but first she’d get Edward to clarify something to this very room. “Hmm…, Edward, was I actually mad about that?” Winter asked in return, and looked right to Edward, “I believe Edward, I smiled about it, because your own underhanded way of getting me into the pack’s territory, was resolved by that one thing.
“And I got out of being a part of your pack, because your own son and the oldest heir, didn’t want to take me, a rogue into the pack. It was that very thing that got me out of having to, not only not having to attend that Luna Ceremony, which you tricked me into attending.
“But it also meant I didn’t have to be initiated into the pack, or be on pack territory for a full moon as well; all things you were so underhanded in getting that day.” She smiled at Edward, nearly chuckled about it, and he saw it, but she did find it amusing, despite her injuries sustained, she’d managed to win against him once more.
“It was as underhanded,” she admitted with a smile, “as you had been with me, and that was a little payback of my own just for you Edward, curtesy of your son over there.” She did chuckle now, at Edward’s annoyed expression. “Ah, There’s that annoyance to my sheer defiance to being initiated into your pack, it amuses me greatly.”
She leaned back in her chair, smiled and shook her head a little as she looked from him to Jared and back, even to his unit. They were all smiling, she knew they all thought it was funny her ways of denying Edward what he wanted.
“It’s fun beating you at your own game. I’m also not the only one amused by it,” and she pointed to his unit, who were all now trying not to laugh. “I’m also not the only one to know I’m winning, it’s like what now? 20 to 0, thanks to your own son,” she snorted.
She saw Edward shake his head, but then answer her, “I do recall you laughing inside my pack hospital, were as amused as you are now, even more so at how difficult it was for my son to bring you in.”
“Hmm, had to have me sedated, I believe.” She nodded.
“That he did.” Edward nodded and turned back to Carlotti. “So, no Lottie, Wynta actually wasn’t upset about being put out of Jared’s car at all, found it very useful and to her own benefit, to my annoyance.”
Winter moved her eyes to Carlotti, who looked more than annoyed right now. “Would you like to try again, rephrase why you came to my office?” She asked simply.
“You’re trying to make me look bad,” Carlotti stated and turned and looked at Jared with a pout. “She can say anything because there’s no footage. She attacked me. It’s not my that the system was down at the time and there’s no proof of it.”
“I did have Dwane investigate it,” Jared stated, “I also found it very convenient that this all happened during the security system update, and so it wasn’t actually recorded in full, that it is now your word against Wynta’s.”
“I don’t work in the building, how would I know that was going to happen?” Carlotti murmured, putting her hand on his arm, and it looked to Wynta as though she was trying to gain his sympathy from him. Wynta just shook her head that she–wolf was going to crash and burn. She looked at Jared himself, he didn’t look to be moved at all by Carlotti. She didn’t think that he believed Carlotti at all, and maybe he too had something up his sleeve to play to put that she–wolf in her place.
She watched as Jared removed Carlotti’s hand from his arm, and then brushed his suit sleeve as if he didn’t even like that she’d touched him before stating, “I don’t like it, that there is conveniently no camera footage. It breeds deceit in my book. So, yes, Dwane and I investigated properly. Dwane talked to all the marketing department employees, that were seen in the office helping Wynta pick up all her things once the system was back on.”
“Jared, they’re all her friends, and she’s also their boss. They’ll say whatever it takes to keep their jobs. It’s not like you can order them, to tell the truth. They’re not wolves, just humans. I think you should order the truth out of Wynta. She might be a rogue, and it might take some doing, but I’m certain, with lots of pushing of your aura at her, she’ll bow down to you in the end,” Carlotti stated and turned and looked at her, as if that was now the point of this.
“That is not going to happen,” Edward stated flatly, “Carlotti, you know I’m trying to bring Wynta in, have been for five years now. I do not want to see her walk away altogether, and I think that would see that happen.”
“It would.” Wynta nodded. “The minute it was stopped, I would quit and walk away.”
