She watched as Edward looked at her and reached a hand out to pat her own, as he shook his head in a no fashion “That is not going to happen, so please don’t concern yourself with that, Wynta. I am not interested in anyone rolling their Aura’s at you and anyone that does will be severely punished by me, regardless of rank.” He told her and then turned back to Jared.” Now, son, what did the employees state?”

“Dwane interviewed them. Dwane care to summarize it for all of us?” Jared asked his Beta.

Dwane nodded, “Every one of those employees stated Carlotti marched into.

office and slammed the door, which was seen on the footage. Then she started ranting at Wynta. She struck Wynta in the face with an open–handed slap, and they rushed into the office to try and stop it. Wynta kicked Lotti, and she fell into the wall.”

“See she attacked me, kicked me just like I stated she did,” Carlotti told the room. “A rogue attacked one of your pack members.” She looked to Edward.

“Shut it Lotti, I’ve not finished my summary, you can speak then.” Dwane snapped at her. “A few of them even stated that Carlotti has been on the floor before, and when she’s there she makes derogatory comments about Wynta, all the time, and how she smells, looks at her and states what’s that stench?” Dwane finished then looked at Lotti “Explain that to me.”

“I… I… Well, the rogue smell offends my sense of smell. Sometimes I can’t help what I say. I speak before I think.” Lotti huffed. “But I honestly did go to apologize. I have nothing against Wynta, I barely know her.”

“Is that right?” Jared commented now, “So your comments in my car the day of Lance and Raelynn’s Ceremony, what was that all about… I think you do have something against Wynta, and perhaps you came in here today and just yelled at her because you wanted to.” He looked right at Wynta, and she saw his eyes move to her split lip, and he sighed a little.

“I don’t have anything against her, and I did come in to apologize to her. I told you that.” Lotti shook her head.

“Wait, son, let’s just go back a minute, what comments in your car?” Edward asked as Wynta herself thought that very same thing, she’d just been about to ask as well. She would like to know what was said about her.

“It’s nothing, Alpha just annoyed ramblings,” Lotti murmured.

“Nothing?” Jared shook his head. “That’s not what I felt, and considering you told me Wynta got your job, and then your promotion, and you were angry about it…”

“Son, what are you talking about?” Edward interrupted him once more. “Lotti has never applied to work here.” He stated, looking confused. “Lotti, explain yourself… or are you going. to state my son is lying about what you said to him that day?”

“N… no, well, I just… I was annoyed that day.” Carlotti stumbled over her words. “I was in a car accident and flustered.”

“Father, I have the conversation recorded from the dash cam, because something else bugged me that very day, and I saved the footage from my entire trip.” He leaned over and put the USB on the table, “Please play it for the room, I think Lotti here is trying to get Wynta into trouble for no reason at all. I’ve seen this type of thing a lot over the years, it happens in all packs, when one is jealous of another and wants what they have. Please play that and resolve this today.”

“Jared,” Carlotti turned her eyes on him. “I was having a bad day, I had a car accident, and I was going to be late for the Luna Ceremony. I was completely stressed out.”

“Not so stressed out you didn’t know I was picking up Wynta that day, or when I would be near the pack for you to call directly to come back and get you. You also didn’t call anyone else,” Jared stated and stared right at her pointedly. “I asked around.” He grated out.

Edward sighed, “Clearly something else is going on,” and he put the USB into the laptop that was being used, and the conversation inside the car that day between himself and Lotti was heard all.

Wynta listened to it and before anyone could say anything she spoke first. “Edward, I did not know you took that job from Carlotti to give to me, or that my promotion was supposed to be another thing that was to be hers, if you want to give them to her. I’ll step down and resign. today, so she can have the job. I don’t want to steal anything from anyone, it’s not who I am,” Wynta stated and stood up as if to leave the room.

“Enough Wynta, sit down. Carlotti was never in line for that job. She doesn’t have the education or experience to ever have a job in the marketing department. Just stay seated we’ll get to the bottom of this here and now,” Edward told her.

She sat herself back down. “I can actually do that for you, Edward,” Wynta told him, “I have a camera inside my office, that’s not part of the building’s security system. Which caught everything audio and visual.” She retrieved the USB and put it on the table. “Everything about today’s argument, oh I’m sorry, the apology from Carlotti is on this recording.”

“She can’t do that,” Carlotti snapped. “That’s probably doctored to suit herself and go against me, and it’s not company policy. That breeds deceit, pack members not trusting each other.”

Winter nearly laughed, “I’m not a pack member, Carlotti, as you do so like to point out. I am a rogue and my stench offends your sense of smell if I recall. So not only do I have the right, I must protect myself at all times. From this very kind of thing, that would see me get unfairly fired or bring harm me by way of an Alpha’s order even, and to protect myself from those that would find ways to tamper with evidence, I do this to prove my innocence only.”

“I’d like to see it,” Dwayne stated.

“I second that.” Jared nodded.

“Finally, we’ll get to the truth of who said what in this allegation,” Edward stated and picked up the USB.

Wynta sat and watched, a smile on her face. She knew there was no apology. She was also curious as to what Jared himself was going to make of this so–called apology, when, in fact, it was Carlotti ripping her a new one and claiming Jared was her secret boyfriend. That it was Carlotti who had thrown everything from her desk and struck her first..

She watched Edward pause the video as Carlotti tried to stand up and leave the room, as she was heard calling Jared her secret boyfriend, only to have both Jared and Dwane’s hands land on her and stop her, “Oh no, you don’t get to leave this room when you state something like that, I want an explanation as to why I’m suddenly your secret boyfriend. I don’t recall that.” Jared grated out.

She watched Carlotti glare at her and just knew that she–wolf was going to be fumingly mad and likely to come at her again, but she wouldn’t do it in this office, not when she was likely to be punished by her own Alpha. It amused Wynta to watch Carlotti sit there and try and backpedal out of what she’d said.

“I was just trying to put her in her place. She got both of us punished, lashed and for no reason, she was the one to walk away. It wasn’t either of our faults.”

She could see Edward was very unhappy, as was Ernesto, the girl’s own stepfather was sitting in his chair shaking his head and appeared not to know what to make of the situation.

“There is more Edward. I’m certain you can deal with Carlotti and her claiming to be Jared’s girlfriend later, but you’ll also see in the rest of the video I didn’t really believe it, and yes, I may have antagonized the woman about what I thought was a lie, but she struck me first, I simply reacted on pure instinct, as any rogue would.”

Edward nodded, “All right, let’s just watch the rest of it, and we’ll go from there. Though I have a feeling already Wynta, you will be exonerated.”

She nodded and murmured, “me too,”

The footage was started once more and everyone got to see Carlotti s***h everything off her desk and onto the floor, and Wynta go to pick it up, only to have Carlotti come at her, threaten her and slap her, stating she needed three slaps, one for every lash she’d taken. And Wyntal react on instinct. All of her marketing team coming into the room to break it up, and Carlotti leave. Yelling about she’d be fired.

She could see daggers in Carlotti’s eyes, as she glared at Wynta now, and Wynta just shook. her head. She didn’t understand the anger not when it was all Carlotti’s own doing, that she’d simply gotten caught out in her own lies. “May I go Edward?” She asked, “now that my name has been cleared.”

“I prefer that you stay here and listen to the punishment she will receive.” Edward told her as he shut down the video footage and sighed as he leaned back in his chair and looked disappointedly at Carlotti.

“I’m not really interested in what that is, and I have a lot of work to do, Edward,” She stood, So please excuse me, I’ll go back to my office now.” And she strolled out of the boardroom.
