He’s an Alpha She doesn’t Care novel Chapter 36

Wynta

She walked into the office on Monday morning as she normally would, at a casual stroll, and she smiled at those of her team who were already in here, she’d stopped to get everyone coffee from the café down the street, and stood handing them out or putting them on their desks for when they arrived and asked, “How was your weekend?”

Only three of her team were there, but they all chatted to her about the things they’d done. spent time with their family, gone out on dates or just hung out with their friends. She smiled at them when they asked about hers. “I went to the beach for the weekend,” she stated. Peaceful for the most part.” She smiled, still a little amused by her conversation with Edward. She’d let the other thing that had happened go. It was a one–off thing and unlikely to happen again. So she’d dismissed it as pure chance.

She set her work day up after that, and looked at the list of meetings for her and her team. It was assessment day by the higher ups, and she had to be ready to answer their questions. Although she’d been prepping for it all day on Thursday and Friday, she went over her notes and made sure she had enough printouts for the regulars in that meeting to follow along.

She looked up from her desk as a rap on her door interrupted her morning, and then she smiled, and it turned into a laugh. She couldn’t help it. When Chester strolled in shaking his head at her, she knew why he was here. But this morning, as he walked into her office, he was trailing a wolf she’d never seen before. “Who’s he?” She asked as Chester sat down across from her.

“Wynta, this is my oldest son, Andrew, you can call him Andy” He held his hand out to her. Give me your bloody phone.” Chester muttered.

“Why are you both here?” She asked as she leaned back in her chair, “Do you think maybe it will take both of you to get me to do what you want? It might take more than two of you,” she winked at Andy He was she now knew Jared’s Gamma.

She saw that man shake his head at her response to them being in her office, and smile a little, but say nothing. He just stood there watching her, and she knew what he was doing. feeling her out as much as dad did at times. She looked right at him uncaring, she had nothing to hide. “Why do you need my phone?” she returned her attention to Chester when he clicked his fingers at her several times.

“I’ve been instructed to put all our numbers in there, so you won’t ignore calls anymore.”

Wynta snorted, “Awe, didn’t Edward like that I wouldn’t pick up an unknown number or is it that he just didn’t like that I went on vacation? Monterey is lovely this time of year. You should tell him to take Marian. She’d love it.”

“Monterey?” Chester asked with a deep frown, and she knew why that’s not where she’d told Edward she’d been.

She grinned right at him. “Hmm, why did he actually send someone to San Diego?” she asked as she got her phone out, and handed it over to him. She might need one of their numbers after what she’d seen in Monterey. So, she didn’t argue about it.

“No, Jared wouldn’t go,” Andy stated, though it did look as though he was amused by her attitude himself.

“Wise of him,” she nodded. “Tell him I appreciate that, I do like my own company.”

She moved her eyes back to Chester. “Your boy is good–looking, he must take after his mother.”

Chester rolled his eyes at her, “Yeah, got those girly eyelashes.” Chester murmured un–phased by her.

She turned her eyes on Andy to look and see if he did, and he actually batted them at her. They were quite long. “All the girls love them.” He smiled, and she could see why. Not only were they long, but they had steel grey eyes with a few bright green flecks behind them, and they were lit up with amusement right now, pretty eyes, she thought to herself. He was the Gamma and likely those very eyes helped him to charm she–wolves into doing what it was that he wanted them too.

“Jealous of them.” She nodded.

“Wynta, why are there no numbers on this phone bar your landlord and two of your team members?” Chester interrupted them.

“Because that is all I need.” She answered him simply.

“How is that possible?”

“Hmm, one my landlord for fixing things, obviously, and two, Tallah because she’s the head of the team and Howie because he’s in charge when Tallah isn’t here. I also call one of them if I’m not coming into the office,” she answered him simply.

Chester frowned at her and shook his head before turning back to her phone. It wasn’t locked. There was nothing on there to be used against her. Her life was very simple: eat, work, sleep, read an online book or watch a short of some online drama. He would, if he chose to go through it, find three reading apps and two short reels apps, and a few games to while away her time. There was no social media of any kind on there, she didn’t need that.

“So how was your trip to the beach?” Andy asked her to bring her attention back to him.

“Good, for the most part, wine, coffee, and I enjoyed the view from my hotel room on Saturday night.” Though that last part wasn’t the truth, they didn’t need to know that.

“Where’d you stay?” he asked right back.

She smiled at him, “Trying to clarify where I was, I see. Monterey Plaza and Spa. Right on the water.” She told him, she rarely went to the same place twice, and she knew she wouldn’t be going back there again, not after seeing the heir to her old Pack. Nope, she would find somewhere else to get away from Mating Balls and full moons.

Though she knew the coast was the best place, most wolfen packs were in the forests or mountains, so taking a break in a cabin in the woods or on a lake was, in her mind, a higher risk of being seen or scented by wolves. Not many actually had packs right on the ocean or in cities, so they were the safest places to be, especially on full moon days because pack. members were all inside their packs praying to scent out their Mates. Unlike her, who was actively avoiding that.

She watched his eyes narrow on her and knew he’d picked something up, though he likely didn’t know what it was, no one knew her past. She didn’t talk about it, though he’d likely picked up that moment of thought about not wanting to come across Nolan. It evoked a slight annoyed worry from her.

She took her phone back from Chester when he handed it back to her, and she scrolled through the contact list and frowned. It wasn’t just Edward and his unit he’d put in there, but Jared and his unit, “Emerson?” she inquired, just to make sure she wasn’t wrong.

“Beneath Andy,” Chester stated.

Her eyes moved right towards him and a smirk played at her lips instantly. “Really!!”

“Don’t.” Chester muttered and stood up.

“Too late, the image is there, those poor girls all standing in line trying to crawl into your son’s bed. Don’t stand a chance if Emerson is always under Andy,” She stated to Chester, but looked to Andy himself now.

She saw Andy stare at her with a slight frown on his face, and it took him a moment before he came to the realization of what she was implying, “Let it go son, she’s trying to tick you off.”

“I am not, you stated Emerson was under Andy I just figured, well…” she shrugged with a smirk.

“Hmm, his ass is tight as fuck.” Andy winked at her. “But Jared’s ooh, you just want to bite that thing.” And he even let out a little growl, as his own father cracked him one and shoved him out of her office.

“Goddess, you’re as bad as she is,” Chester muttered.

Wynta heard Andy laugh as they walked away, and she chuckled herself. It seems the Gamma had a good sense of humor, hadn’t taken any offense just played along; to what appeared to be Chesters’s annoyance.

Though he’d taken it one step further and played at thinking his own Alpha’s ass was biteable. She was curious as to why he would do that. Jared likely wouldn’t appreciate it at all, or was it just to try and shoot an image into her mind’s eye? Who the hell knew?

She shook her head, though it seemed she was going to be able to play with him. That was nice another to torment in the office at times. She let it go and got ready for her meeting, only to walk in the door and find Jared and his entire unit sitting there, along with her direct supervisor.

Everyone in the room got the introduction to Jared and his team. That Dwane was the new CEO that was in charge of their department, and he reported directly to Jared. They were here in the US from the European office and would be staying for an undetermined period of time, to not only work alongside their fathers, who owned the company, but to see how the department ran, and they would be at times on the floor to interact and advise.

She didn’t really say anything, just nodded along like the others in the room. She took notes. from Dwane as he put forward a few ideas, and stated she’d take that back to her team, and they’d work on it. Wynta walked from the meeting, as did everyone else, and Dwane stepped up to her, “May I.” He pointed to her presentation.

“Mm, there wasn’t enough to go around because I wasn’t informed you and the bosses would be in the meeting. Sorry about that, Mr Miller.” She addressed him formally, and handed over her presentation to him.

“You can call me Dwane, Wynta.” He smiled at her.

“I’d prefer to keep it on a professional basis. We’re not family,” she stated simply.

He didn’t miss her meaning and a slight smile touched his lips. “Could be you know,” he stated, and walked off with Jared, Andy and Emerson. She watched them go, and she watched as Andy grabbed Emerson’s ass and squeezed it firmly, shocking the Delta completely.

“What the hell are you doing?” Emerson brushed his hand off.

Wynta snorted as Andy’s eyes turned to her, “Might get a beating if I grab the bosses.” He stated and laughed as they all kind of stopped and looked at him.

Wynta turned away as the elevator’s door opened, but her eyes did actually move to Jared’s ass with that comment. He wasn’t wearing a jacket, only slacks, a dress shirt and tie, damned Gamma; his comment had worked as he wanted it to. She knew what Andy was doing, and now she knew just how tight Jared’s ass was as well. They all worked out, and he did have that typical Alpha physique of broad shoulders and tapered waist and a perfectly sculpted ass.

She got in the elevator and shook her head, bitting her lip, trying not to think about it, only to hear Andy snort “one to zero Wynta, in my favor,” as the doors closed.
