Wynta
Her meetings were over for the morning, and she’d attended to physio at 1pm, Kyan had driven her there, though she’d told him she had to make a stop on the way back to the office. Told him she had a meeting in the company apartment building, and she was carrying her briefcase and as she was driven to the meeting she was on the phone talking about marketing strategies for that new restaurant that had signed contracts with the company.
She made sure to ask the owner how he liked the new apartment. While she was in the car with Kyan, she knew he was listening to her and had called this man on purpose. She did want a sit down with him, but not today. He’d barely had time to let the ink dry on his contracts, but Kyan didn’t know that.
So, as far as Kyan knew, she was going to his apartment to discuss that with him, and he just happened to live in the building. It was a lie on her part. She had devised a way to get back at Jared just this morning.
It had come from a discussion with her team, when it dawned on her that she had access to those penthouse apartments, where Jared and his unit lived, she’d been inside them and seen Chester punch the code in. Chester had the access codes and likely the smart app to go with them. She’d walked into his office before going to physio.
Asked him about the app for the apartments and the passcode, he’d looked at her curiously and she’d muttered, “I need to go and look at them, kinda might need to move in after this morning.”
He’d nodded. “I heard about the flowers and one watching you. I also think it’s a good idea to move into the pack’s apartment building.”
“I know which ones are yet to be leased but, don’t have access to them like you do, and after physio I’ll have Kyan take me over to look at them. But I’ll do it on my own.” she’d held a hand up to him, “Just tell me the app and password. I’ll pick an apartment and change the code so if I need to move in, on the weekend there’ll be less hassle for you or Edward.” It was completely underhanded, but at the same time, she might actually need to do this for real at some point, and so Chester had felt that from her.
She’d made sure to keep Jared far from her thoughts when in that Gamma’s office. He’d shown her the app and she’d downloaded it, and he’d even given her the pack’s master password and shown her how to change the code on the door. She’d smiled, thanked him and walked away.
Now, as they pulled up outside the building, she smiled at Kyan, “I’ll only be like five or ten minutes.”
“I can see the entry from here,” he’d nodded.
She’d walked from the car right to the doorman and smiled at him, “Afternoon Chris, how are you?”
“I’m good Wynta, Chester called ahead,” he stated, and she nodded. That did not surprise her at all. He held out a card for her to use. “It accesses all the floors, go look about.”
She’d nodded, that was easier than talking him into giving her an elevator access card. It had been the only thing she’d foreseen may have caused an issue, though she’d been here enough times for him to know who she was. She’d been banking on that, “Oh Chris, I need to drop a document off for Jared. I’ll just duck up and slip it under his door.”
“Alright, but I could hand it to him if you like.” he offered.
“No need, it’s not important when he gets it, I’m going up anyway.” she’d smiled and got into the elevator, knowing he’d be looking to see where it went, and going to the top floor. Those apartments were all now taken, so there was no need.
She accessed the app on her phone as she rode the lift and put that password in and walked over to Jared’s apartment and leaned down to slip a piece of paper under his door. She smiled as she did, left just the corner of it so he could see it from this side. Then walked away but stopped as if answering her phone.
She used that master password to access the pack’s door locks and then leaned herself against the wall as if texting someone while that camera she could be seen from would show her just texting someone. She used one hand to slide the lock–up and see the serial number for the lock itself, and then typed in a new pin, 946837. Two could play his game.
She just pushed off the wall, when she heard the lock beep twice to indicate it had been changed by remote. Then she just walked away to get in the elevator, and she went to the two one–bedroom apartments as if looking about and then left the building, returning the key card, and went right back to Kyan’s car and smiled at him, “all done.”
She got out of the car, as did Kyan, at the office, and she frowned. She thought he’d just drive off, but he was coming round the car in long strides, and she felt her instincts kick in and looked about.
“Wynta,” he stated, as he grabbed onto her, and she was pulled into him all of a sudden.” Choose me over the Alpha, I think we’d be great together, let me show you,” he told her, and before she knew it, his mouth was on hers.
She kind of stared up at him, her eyes very wide in shock as his mouth devoured hers in what would appear to everyone around them a deep hungry kiss. But she saw his eyes glaze over the moment his mouth touched her. Then she was pressed back against the car all roughly, his entire body up against hers and she understood.
There was something going on, but he couldn’t tell her, because he couldn’t mind–link to her. She wasn’t part of his pack, but he was now alerting others to whatever it was. He had a hold of her hands a moment later, and they were moved to his chest, and he was pulling at them as though she was pushing at him to back off.
She understood and pushed at him with all she had. “Get off me,” she grated out at him, knowing it was what he wanted her to do.
“No, I want to be with you, Wynta, it’s why I always drive you everywhere. You wanted to have dinner with me, you said so just this morning.” He was letting her struggle with him as he tried to hold her against the car.
“It was just to tick Jared off.” She gasped out as she struggled against him. She could actually state that, with all honesty, she had done that to annoy Jared, she was really fighting him now, as if they were having a fight. “You know that.” she grated out at him.
“I don’t care about that, you’re not his Mate, you can be mine.” He told her, “You’re just a rogue, submit to me.” He shoved her back at the car once more, and she kicked him without much thought.
Pain flared through her knee and she gasped and then stumbled as Kyan was suddenly yanked off of her, and she watched a fist hit the man right in his face and he went staggering backwards. Her eyes widened as she realized it was Jared that had punched Kyan. “Don’t you f*****g touch her,” he yelled at Kyan and then was right in front of her with a hand on her face gently.
His eyes moved over her, and he cursed out loud as he saw the way she was kind of standing on just one leg. Then he just picked her up bridal style and was walking away from her towards the office. “Are you alright?” he asked, and she blinked at that softness of his voice. Kind of had to shake it off, she understood it was all an act.
He didn’t put her down until they were in that express elevator, and she watched as Dwane and Andy hauled Kyan in after them, and Emerson followed. She wanted to ask what happened but Jared put a finger to her lips and shook his head. She understood, there were others that were in listening distance.
The elevator closed, and she looked from him to Kyan. “What happened?” she finally asked as it moved between floors.
“There were warriors tailing us. I could smell them, then as I got closer to the office I saw three more. You were about to be snatched. I can’t fight that many and certainly not in public. That’s what they were counting on, I’m betting.”
She frowned at him now. “Did they all smell the same?”
“Yes.” He nodded, and she watched him reach up and rub his jaw.
“Sorry.” Jared stated, “I had to make it look real.”
“I’m aware, I was expecting it, Alpha.” Kyan waved it off, but he already had a bruise there,” What did they do with what they saw?”
“They all came to a standstill,” Dwane answered him “The three in the car got back into their car. The other three stopped and watched. As we hauled you in, and Jared carried Wynta inside, they were all frowning.”
“All bar one walked off,” Emerson stated.
The elevator opened onto the 10th floor, and she sighed as she tried to put weight on her knee, took a breath in and she now had a hobble once more, she had aggravated her injury once more, she waved them off and moved on her own “It’ll be fine just twinged it, the brace is good support.” She also needed to be able to deal with things like this, and she’d been the one to kick Kyan with her still injured leg, kind of couldn’t help it, it was her dominant side.
She found Andy right there next to her on the couch in Jared’s office, and she felt his Gamma charm roll over her and frowned at him. “Stop that,” she muttered. “It hurts, but not so much as I need your assistance. A heat pack will fix it,” she told him, and watched him nod and get up.
She moved her eyes to Jared as he stood over by the window, and she knew he was watching the street down there. Though he’d been on the move, it was likely he’d registered each of those warriors and what they looked like as well. He was now looking to see just where they were if they had actually left.
He turned and looked at her after several long minutes. “It’s the same pack, Wynta, the scent of Daffodil’s,”
“Alright.” She nodded; there wasn’t anything she could do about it.
“That’s it, all you have to say on the matter?” He sounded annoyed with her lack of concern.
“What do you expect me to say or do, Jared? I’m not the one stalking me. I don’t know what they want, there is absolutely no reason for that pack to be tracking me. I’ve never caused it trouble, never even caused that Alpha any trouble.” She shook her head. “When I left there mosity between us.’
“So, you admit they are your home pack then,” he stated as he sat across from her.
“Yes. But there is no reason for them to try and take me.” She shook her head and she watched his eyes move to Andy, and she rolled her eyes, and turned and looked at Andy. Reached out and put a hand on him. “Feel me out,” she told him simply. “There was no animosity from that Alpha towards me when I left, he wasn’t even in the pack when I left.” She told him exactly what she’d seen of Nolan that day. She’d not even seen anger in him, he’d not seemed to care at all, that was all she’d gotten from him.
Andy sighed and looked at Jared. “She’s not lying.”
