Wynta
“Hmm, there’s not much to say,” she stated with a nod. She would answer his question. It appeared he’d figured most of it out. “He had to hunt me down, to actually find me… He didn’t even know where I was. I didn’t go to him, saw no point in it to be honest. I already knew I was going to reject him by then, with all he’d done,” she shrugged and shook her head a little.
“Though how long it took for him to turn up, that in itself spoke volumes. It took him two hours post the moon setting to come and find me in the hospital. It’s about a 15–minute walk from the packhouse, so…” again, she shrugged.
“I took that as he didn’t want me. I’m also guessing that when he did scent me out, he had to play at that he hadn’t scented anyone that night, for his family, and he would also have had to have words with Yale, about him actually scenting me. Discuss if they thought that I would tell the Alpha what they’d done to me,
“Before coming and finding me, maybe they even tried to come up with a plan of their own to keep me quiet. I’m betting it came as a shock to Nolan, that I was his actual Mate and the
realization of what he did, and his Beta not having scented me out? They knew that meant I hadn’t scented Yale, so I knew the absolute truth of everything they’d tried to do,
“They just didn’t know I already knew, figured it out very quickly and tested them even. Every wolf knows coercion is against the wolfen laws,” she told him, “and our schooling was inside the pack, and we were taught about it as early as 13.
“When he arrived and didn’t want to talk to me in front of the nurse,” she half laughed. “He told the nurse his father had sent him to talk to me about something private, and then stood and waited until she left, closed the door even. All things which showed me that he didn’t want anyone in that place to know what I was to him, so I issued a rejection.” She shrugged.
Jared sat quietly now as he just looked at her, there was no smile on his face, and she knew he was actually actively listening to all she said and taking in all that had happened, could probably, being an Alpha himself, understand Nolan’s actions and why he did them.
He finally nodded slowly and sighed. “Alright… There was something else I’m curious about Wynta. Nolan started to say something, then stopped himself and trailed off. He wouldn’t finish his sentence about that rejection, stated he didn’t have to explain himself to me or father. Do you know what that was or was that something only he knows?”
Wynta snorted and rolled her eyes, “Oh, did he leave out his own words that day,” she shook her head. Of course, he had. It would just make him look even more callous and cruel.”
There’s a reason for that. You all already knew about the act of coercion, and I can only guess, because he was talking to you and your father, both Alpha–bloods, that he didn’t want to look any worse in your eyes.”
“So, he did something worse to you then?” Jared frowned at her.
“Hmm, nothing physical. He just told me we’d come back to the Mate Bond thing after he came home from Alpha College,” Wynta shrugged. “That one statement is what saw me leave the pack. He’s not worth the blood that runs in his veins as far as I’m concerned.”
“Right!” Jarred muttered, “That one statement from him, told you he expected you to just sit around and wait for him to want you, for however long it took him to make the decision, and you were supposed to just ignore any other she–wolves he decided to have s*x with up until that moment came along.”
“Yes, and well,” she smiled at him now. “You might not have known me for very long, Jared. But I’m certain you also know me well enough to know I’m not the kind of person to do that,” she stated and saw him nod, “When I left the hospital, I left the pack.” She stated simply, Knew I was going to, I just needed to have my wrist healed first… is he marked, or his intent is it to claim me?” she asked now.
She wasn’t going to be allowing that, regardless of what he said or did, but she did think she needed to know what Nolan’s actual intent was where she was concerned, so she knew how to handle him herself.
“He’s not marked, I did not scent any other venom in him either, so I believe his intent is to claim you. I made mention of him maybe having a little brother that was mated off. And maybe lining up to take over the pack, and he was losing his position as the Heir, because he’d rejected you and he needs a Goddess–Gifted, to take the seat, he got angry about those words. Was I right, Wynta?” Jared asked now.
“Hmm, I believe so. He’s got three younger brothers and that pack is all about
“To see if I would be stepping on anyone’s toes, if I opted to play with you,” he smiled at her, and she rolled her eyes a little. “We’re off–topic Wynta,” Jared stated, “Let’s get back to why we’re actually here… Nolan stated that he was here just to collect you and take you home to the pack, where you belong.”
“I don’t belong there,” Wynta stated simply. “I never did.”
“That’s not what Nolan said, he told father and I. You were born into the Blue Ridge pack.”
She raised an eyebrow at him now, but then also wondered why Nolan would say that. He knew, the whole pack knew, she was an orphan, that she had lived in the orphanage all her life. Though the couple that ran the orphanage were loving and supportive and had two children of their own that also lived in that house.
She and everyone else inside that pack, knew she was an orphan. There were on average half a dozen orphans in that place all the time, coming and going. She was the only long–term one, and she understood why it was, understood the Alpha and Luna had expected her mother to come for her at some point.
Nolan knew all of this, including that she had not been born inside that pack, but found outside the pack’s borders. So, to claim she was born inside it, that was an actual lie, one she herself could refute. So why state that? Either Jared or Edward could call Alpha Peter and ask that very question themselves, it wasn’t likely her former Alpha would lie about it.
So, it was odd, she found herself absently running a finger over the very tiny scar on her palm. It was barely noticeable to anyone at all, but it was the tiny nick she’d gotten as a newborn, to bleed her into the pack.
It was not meant to take away her lineage, just give her the pack’s scent was all but being that she was a baby, it had been so very tiny and was now barely noticeable to the naked eye, unlike those of adults where it was 1cm cut to the bottom of their palm. Hers was barely a few millimeters long, but she knew it was there and could feel it as well.
Again, just something that could disprove Nolan’s statement, did he not think that Jared or Edward would come and ask her themselves, or had he just thought they would take his word over hers because he was an Alpha–blood, and she was just a wolf–less rogue with no status; so seen as worthless and untrustworthy.
