He’s an Alpha She doesn’t Care novel Chapter 74

Jared

He’d called a meeting with his father and his unit, his own unit, after Wynta had left to discuss the conversation they’d had. He’d gone into the office, and they’d all sat around and talked it over while having dinner, talked about how open she’d been about her life.

It had surprised everyone as much as it had himself, though Chester had just smiled and nodded as though he’d thought she might, stated she’d been with them for five years and despite her games and not coming in. There was trust there between the four of them built from years of being around her and never harming her.

He’d looked at Jared for a long moment and stated, “She appears to want to trust you as well.”

“I’ve never done anything to see I’m untrustworthy,” had been his answer. “Arrogant and rude is how she saw me at first, but not deceitful. I’ve never deceived her about anything.” And he hadn’t even known. He’d told her the game he was going to play with her.

“It also likely helped that you were on her side with that whole Carlotti thing.” Dwane had nodded. “It showed her you’re not biased, that you can actually see the facts, and read between the lines, are willing to dig up things to get to the truth, and present them honestly.”

“Among other things, she actually likes you, son.” His father chuckled softly. “I’ve never seen her… allow the things you do to her, be done by anyone else.”

Jared had let that one go. He wasn’t about to discuss that, that was his and Wynta’s business, but it was a nice thought for him to have. Though the mention of Carlotti made him realize he’d not asked about what was going on with her in the past week “Off topic for a moment, what’s going on with Carlotti? Is she still a threat to Wynta?”

“She’s in a cell still, got a week in there after her confession was forced from her, she’ll actually be released when I get home this evening, but she has been stripped of everything. She is also being sent away to study abroad. When she gets there, she’ll be undertaking etiquette lessons to learn to mind her manners. Your grandmother, Margarette, runs that school in France. She’s enrolled already.

“Then, after a year, she’ll be off to study an English major, and it’s been arranged for her to stay within your mother’s home pack in France in a single dorm. Where she will stay until she has completed her degree.

“She’ll not be returning to the pack for at least five and a half years if she opts to return at all; she’s booked on a flight with Wolf Airlines, leaving on Monday. They were the conditions she agreed to, in order for her to be released and not be banished and turned rogue. She’s still got anger issues with Wynta, though. Chester picks it up every time he goes in there to the cells. Margarette believes she can rehabilitate that attitude.” His father chuckled softly with a slight shake of his head.

Jared shook his own head and, yes, he knew what Margarette was like, strict and proper. Took great pleasure in teaching others to mind their manners. It wasn’t a school she taught, it was a reform school for wayward girls, regardless of age.

He still didn’t really understand how Carlotti could blame Wynta for anything, when it was all her own fault and actions that saw her be punished, but that girl just didn’t seem to be able to take responsibility for her own actions. Margarette was going to have her hands full in all likelihood.

The discussion moved on to Wynta’s past and that scar on her wrist, how she’d done that to herself, that had made all of them stare at him. “Yes, it shocked me too.” Jared nodded. “But that shows just how determined she is to do things her own way.” His father was actually relieved that it hadn’t come about the way he’d thought it had; stolen and brutalized.

They all came to the same conclusion. It was more than likely that Wynta had a hidden bloodline, and that it was going to be a high probability that her father, if he truly was looking for her, was going to be an Alpha.

Though unless that man showed up and tried to lay his claim upon her, they wouldn’t have any idea who he was, and nor would Wynta. Although, even then, an Alpha laying claim to a fully grown she–wolf and one of Wynta’s age, she had the right to walk away uncaring of it.

She also wasn’t going to care about it, because she had come to her own decision on why she’d been left. Her mother did it to protect her was Wynta’s own thoughts on the matter. They all hearing about the way she’d been found; it was again highly likely that was exactly what had happened.

She wasn’t interested in meeting her father, but he relayed her words about her mother, and they were all in agreement that she would likely want to meet her. That if Nolan used that card on her, Wynta might be swayed into going with him.

That, once again, it was a waiting game; intentions had been declared now, so if Nolan now snatched her off the street, it would be war and that Alpha now knew it. So, no one thought he was going to do that. They all agreed that he’d gone into that meeting, hoping to convince them to let him take her home, but that Nolan had forgotten it wasn’t up to them, she was a rogue and answered to no one.

An heir couldn’t start a war not without his Alpha’s permission, something Jared already had. His father had told him it was his job to protect her, which meant he could do that by anymeans necessary. Including taking a piece of another Alpha if he had to, to save her or defend her.

“Hmm,” he looked at his watch. It was only early. “Let me get changed.” He drank the last of his coffee. “Who knows what time she’ll move in? It could be 1159pm for all I know.” He smiled and knowing Wynta’s temperament, it was likely she’d pull a stunt like that.

He heard Dwane chuckle. “We’ll meet you downstairs.”

He just nodded and headed off to get changed. He could use the distraction from his own thoughts. Creed snorted inside his mind, ‘They’re always on Wynta. You are an obsessive clingy girl.‘

‘Oh, then you must be a fanboy, can’t keep your eyes off her either, you bloody pervert.‘

‘Pretty.‘ Creed chortled at him, didn’t even seem the slightest bit offended, ‘She’ll like me when she sees me.’

‘Mm, we’ll see if that happens come the full moon.‘ He smiled himself.

‘She’ll warm up to me quick. You she’ll avoid.‘ Creed taunted him openly.

‘Oh, so you are looking to scent her out?‘ Jared snorted. ‘Finally caught you out.‘

Creed snorted inside his mind ‘Run on your own, and turned and walked off to lay down inside his mind.

Jared laughed at his own Wolf and headed off to join the boys. That would only work until one of the boys called him slow or challenged him about not being able to keep up, and then Creed himself wouldn’t want to be seen as weaker than any of them. Push forward and give Jared a boost of stamina, to keep up and push them even harder.
