Wynta
She’d spent most of last night packing up her clothes, linen and toiletries into the two suitcases she owned. Her landlord had been shocked to hear she was moving out, and so quickly, she’d apologized but was paid up until the end of the month, and told him she’d hired a cleaning company to do a professional move–out clean. They were coming on Monday at 11am.
She’d stood and looked at her studio apartment, a place she’d lived in for five years now, and nearly sighed to herself. She was comfortable here. If Nolan hadn’t turned up and started causing problems in her life, she wouldn’t be moving out at all. She left her apartment at 10am to find Kyan leaning on a car waiting for her outside the building.
“I’ll drop you off and then go help the boys pick up your furniture. They’ve got the moving truck,” he looked at his watch. “It should be at the new apartment now waiting for me.” He smiled at her, “The smaller items were all dropped off last night while you were with Jared,” he smiled at her a little knowingly, and then opened the boot of the car he was leaning on. You got anything else?”
“Yes, two boxes of food,” she answered. “I’ll go and get them in a sec,” she told him.
“I’ll get them for you, and then we’ll be off,” Kyan stated and headed back into her apartment.
Wynta just nodded, there was not going to be any arguing about it, she had signed that agreement to move in, and no later than today. He got in the car and smiled at her, but it was a quiet ride to the new apartment and Kyan looked at her as they got out of the car. “Is everything alright, Wynta?” he asked.
“Mm, I don’t like change too much,” she stated, and she didn’t.
“Is that all it is? You and Jared didn’t fight yesterday, I know that.” He smirked a little.
Not they had not, and Kyan had been the one to run her home last night. That smirk on his face now was indicative of him having smelled her lingering arousal when coming from Jared’s place, likely smelled his Alpha’s heir on her as well as seen the love bite he’d left on her neck.
“Mm, we didn’t. I just don’t normally live where…” she looked at the building. “Others from the company live, is all. I like being on my own and not surrounded by…” She had to keep it in human terms. There were humans out here walking about.
“I understand,” Kyan nodded. “It’s a big adjustment, just take it one day at a time. Look on the bright side, you’ll not have us anymore. Got the boss up there.” He smiled at her.
She raised an eyebrow. “Yay for me.” she murmured as she got her suitcases out.
“You really don’t have much, do you?” Kyan frowned as they headed up to her apartment.
“I don’t need much,” she shrugged. “My life was quiet, unassuming and simple,” she stated. Not so much anymore. Thank you for helping me today and yesterday, you can just leave them there by the door. I’ll bring them in,” she indicated to the boxes he was carrying.
“No worries, and honestly, yesterday was a lot of fun for me. Edward liked seeing you interact with me the way you did too.” He grinned at her. “Stated you looked like a happy pack member.”
“I bet he did.” She shook her head, and he walked away to the to go back downstairs after telling her, “We’ll be back in a few hours.”
Her interacting with his pack members like that would likely make Edward happy, though if she was truly honest with herself, she’d enjoyed spending the day with Kyan. He was fun, and she could actually see them being friends.
Wynta punched in the code to her new apartment, rolled her two suitcases through the door and picked up her two boxes and stepped inside, using her foot to close the door, she stepped into the kitchen area to put them on the island bench, then came to a halt at seeing a massive arrangement of pink, purple and cream flowers all set up along the walls of her living area.
She stood with a slight frown on her face as she read those words, and something occurred to her as her eyes moved to those flowers. Back in the office, she had seen Jared frown at seeing there were flowers on her desk. He also knew he’d not sent them to her, and she had a feeling now that frown meant he’d actually been unhappy about seeing them.
Ah, he’d likely figured out they were from Nolan and was just showing her a single bunch of flowers wasn’t an apology from an Alpha. She shook her head and wondered again what he was doing? Why would he let that annoy him? If that was what it was, did it actually bother him? But then again, why would it?
Though on Wednesday in her office, he’d also told her it was better to have him on her lips than Kyan… she frowned now, as she wondered if her getting flowers from another Alpha had elicited the same response from him, as Kyan’s scent on her lips. Then she recalled Kyan’s words from just yesterday that Jared was said to be possessive.
She looked at those two vases and wondered just how much they cost themselves. She didn’t know if she should check that or not. They looked very expensive to her, and she’d told him she didn’t accept gifts from Alpha’s already. The man was too hard to read. Sometimes she thought he was serious, but then had to remember he was just playing a game with her.
She’d thought his words were of a jealous nature when he’d kissed her, though there had been no annoyance in his words to actually indicate that at all, and she’d had to remind herself that’s not what it was. It was just a game for him once more. She’d gotten lost in the moment, but he hadn’t. She’d read more into his words than was necessary.
This though, all these flowers? She got that he wanted to apologize, but why that sticky note and the card? What was his point? She looked at the sticky note and realized he had to know that those roses she’d gotten were from Nolan… it was the only thing that made sense to her, but again, why would he need to do that with her.
It wasn’t as if they were in a relationship, there was nothing between them other than the game he was playing with her. She knew that everything he did, where she was concerned, was all just an effort to have her agree to being initiated into the pack and nothing more, he’d made himself plainly clear. Told her exactly what he wanted from her.
She didn’t understand what kind of game this was, or even if it was a game or not? Jared was more than confusing for her right this minute. No longer did his actions seem to match his words. Even last night, he’d stated ‘Maybe Wynta, I just really want to, but then had, after touching her, told her he’d been punishing her for her not cashing his cheque.
She sighed to herself and shook her head. She didn’t bloody know what the man wanted. Wynta pushed her suitcases into the walk–in to start unpacking her things. She didn’t have much and when she was done it was barely half full.
