“Can you do a dilation procedure?”

The young woman sitting across from me looked nervous. “My husband’s too… I can barely handle him.”

1 blinked. In five years as a gynecologist, I’d heard every request imaginable. Tightening procedures. Hymen repairs. The works.

But dilation? That was rare.

During her exam, I found she was on the smaller side–but nothing that actually required surgery.

“You don’t need this,” I tried talking her out of it.

“Please.” She cut me off.

“My husband’s really big, and he’s always so careful not to hurt me. I can tell how much he’s holding back every time.”

“I hate seeing him suffer like that. Please schedule the surgery ASAP.”

My mind flashed to my own husband, Garrett Hale. He was… impressively sized. I’d bled more than once.

Heat crept up my face. I shook the thought away and started her paperwork.

That’s when the door burst open. And a man walked in fast.

Before I could speak, the girl flew into his arms.

“Babe!”

My entire body went cold.

Because the man she was wrapped around, the man she was getting surgery for, the man she’d just called babe?

That’s MY husband!

Garrett stared at Melody Winters, his eyebrows pulled tight.

“If my assistant hadn’t randomly seen you at the hospital, you were just gonna go through with it? Without telling me?”

“I’ve told you before–I don’t care what I have to deal with. Don’t hurt yourself for me.”

Melody’s voice came out small and hurt.

“But watching you struggle like that every time… it kills me.”

Garrett’s hand came up to touch her face. His voice went soft in a way I’d never heard.

“Silly girl, just having you by my side is all I need.”

“Sex? It means nothing compared to you. I’d give it up forever if that’s what it takes.”

Tears ran down Melody’s face.

The two of them acted like I wasn’t even there. Garrett’s whole world had narrowed to Melody–he didn’t even see me standing right there.

I stood off to the side, feeling like some kind of third wheel.

Just last night, he’d been pressed against me, breathing in my ear.

Our bodies locked together as he took me over and over, rough and hungry.

But now? Now he was saying he’d give up sex completely for another woman.

“Come on, let’s go home.”

Garrett moved to leave with Melody, but she stayed put.

“Babe, I still want the surgery.”

She sounded shy.

“I want to make you feel good. And… I want us to have a baby.”

Garrett shut her down fast.

“Not if it means messing up your body.”

While they were going back and forth, a pen rolled off the desk.

Garrett’s head whipped around. His eyes locked with mine, and for a split second, his pupils got smaller.

But within moments, his face went back to normal.

“Be good. Let’s go home.”

Then Garrett led Melody out.

I collapsed into my chair, body stiff as a board. My chest felt stuffed with something heavy–tight, suffocating, painful.

I’d never thought Garrett would cheat.

But here was reality, laid out cold and brutal right in front of me.

I pressed my hands to my face. Tears I couldn’t stop streamed through my fingers.

Knock, knock, knock.

Just then, a nurse poked her head in. “Dr. Vaughn, you’ve got patients waiting.”

I wiped my face fast and shoved every feeling down, pushing through the rest of my appointments.

By the time my shift ended, I dragged my numb body back to our apartment in Chelsea.

The place was pitch black. I reached for the light switch, but before I could flip it, a warm body pressed against me from behind.

That familiar smell hit my nose-

Garrett.

He gave me zero time to react before pinning me down on the couch.

After I’d caught him cheating red–handed, he offered no explanation. Instead, he was using me to get off.

I started fighting back.

“Don’t touch me!”

Garrett pinned both my wrists with one hand easy.

“You don’t want this?”

I stared at him like I didn’t know who he was. My voice shook.

“Garrett, don’t you have anything you wanna say to me?”

How could he be this calm? Like nothing had happened at all.

Garrett frowned at me. His tone stayed flat.

“She won’t affect you. Let’s just keep things how they are.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“What… what did you just say?”

“Her body can’t handle me, and she can’t get pregnant either. Just pretend you don’t know. We’ll keep everything the same as before.”

With that, he pulled out his phone.

A second later, I got a notification. Five hundred thousand dollars dropped into my account.

“Quit your job.”

My mouth opened, but no sound came out.

Right then, his phone rang.

Garrett climbed off me. His voice went soft instantly.

“Yeah, I’ll be right there.”

Then he walked out without looking back once.

I sat frozen, cold spreading through my chest.

I knew who’d called. Melody.

Tears kept falling like they’d never stop. I grabbed my phone and made a call.

“I need to file for divorce.”
