Chapter 9
After finishing work one day, my friend suddenly called me..
“Holy shit–major gossip alert! Quick, check the link I sent you!”
When I saw Olivia’s compromising photos on my phone, I felt a sense of foreboding.
Ryan had always been extreme–love or hate, no in between. Whatever she’d done to cross him, I almost pitied her.
But none of this concerned me anymore. Yet the next moment, I looked up–and there he was.
Ryan stood in the rain, eyes bloodshot, hand twitching like he wanted to reach for me.
“Emma… I’ve missed you so much.”
His broken whisper made my skin crawl. This wasn’t remorse–it was emotional blackmail, wrapped in pretty guilt.
Noticing my impatient gaze, his tone became even more submissive. “Emma, I’m here to take you home. Back to our home.”
I responded coolly: “No thanks, Mr. Hayes. I’m very happy here. Best wishes to you and Olivia.”
His face shattered. He’d expected forgiveness, like always. One apology, and I’d crawl back.
Why wasn’t it working now?
He moved to hug me–then froze when I stepped back. “I’ll stay right here,” he rasped. “Just… let me look at you.”
His voice carried unspeakable sorrow as he continued: “Emma, I truly wanted a future with you. You’ve always loved children, so we could-”
SLAP!
Before he could finish, I struck him hard across the face, years of resentment behind the blow.
thought I had my temper under control,, but mentioning children unleashed my fury.
You have no right to talk about the future, much less children.”
Need I remind you? We did have a child once. Do you know where she is now? In medical waste! Already thrown away!”
And where were you then? Taking care of Olivia’s burn, which would have healed on its own if you’d waited five more minutes! Shall I continue?”
yan clutched his head in agony. “Emma, I’m so sorry, truly sorry. I was young and didn’t understand love. But I’ve woken up now. If you’ll forgivene ll do anything.”
You wanted marriage, right? We’ll get our marriage certificate tomorrow. I’ll announce it publicly right now.”
ee? He always knew exactly what I wanted.
took a deep breath. “How about you go die instead? Preferably far away where I won’t have to see. I’d hate to soil my eyes.”
ust leave me alone. Consider it a kindness for our lost child.”
fter such harsh words, I thought Ryan’s pride would prevent him from pursuing me further.
it he didn’t give up. Instead, he began repeating all our dating rituals.

Chapter 9
Every day he found ways to share his life with me–a cloud, a flower, anything became an excuse to talk.
Rain or shine, he stood guard outside our company building, smiling ingratiatingly whenever he saw me.
“I made your favorite lunch box. You love this, remember?”
He ignored all of Olivia’s calls and cut ties with his former friends.
1 neither rejected nor encouraged him. Whatever he wanted to do was his business.
Occasionally I’d have dinner with male colleagues, and I’d catch his devastated reflection in the office window.
I felt no sympathy. I knew him too well–this was just another manipulation tactic.
Sure enough, one day when I was wearing a skirt suit and about to get into a colleague’s car, he finally snapped. He blocked the car door, refusing to let me in.
He used bracket to cover my legs, frantically asking over and over: “Who is this guy? Your skirt shouldn’t be this short. It’s not safe… No…”
“Besides, haven’t you forgiven me yet? I’ve changed so much. We see each other every day.”
I stared at him coldly. Something in my expression made the blood drain from his face.
After a few minutes, I finally spoke.
“Ryan, who said seeing you every day means I’ve forgiven you? Maybe I’m just using you for practice now.”
“This outfit? You used to love when I dressed like this for others to see. It fed your pathetic vanity. Now I want to please myself. Is that a problem?”
“What’s different now? Let me guess–before I was just practice doll, but now you’ve actually fallen in love with me?”
“You’re still as disgusting as ever. You always knew how to love properly but chose to trample on my genuine feelings before realizing what you lost. I never want to see you again. Understand?”
With that, I opened the car door and left. He stood there for a very long time.
He finally understood that I had seen through him completely, recognizing his manipulative tactics from the beginning.
He remembered how in the past, no matter how angry I got, I never left him alone. A small gesture from him was always enough.
It wasn’t because I was easily placated–it was because I truly loved him. I loved him too much to waste even a second on emotional standoffs.
He finally understood what he had lost, and his heart felt utterly hollow.
Later, he returned to his hometown and hosted a lavish party celebrating his single status.
“Bro, it’s about time you did this! That woman was nothing! Let’s drink!”
“Yeah, hurry up and confess to Olivia already. We’re all waiting for the wedding!”
Ryan smiled and handed Olivia a drugged drink, saying tenderly: “I was wrong before. Let’s make things right from now on.”
Then he locked the drugged Olivia in a room with several drunk men and set up a livestream.
The previous intimate photos had been suppressed by her family, but this livestream would ensure everyone’s reputation was destroyed.
After carefully confirming that all the men who had insulted me were present, Ryan locked the villa doors.
en he set it on fire.

Chapter 9
By the time the fire trucks arrived, the villa was ashes. No survivors.
In the end. I learned about it through the news: a sudden fire at a villa had killed several wealthy heirs.
Ryan’s crew all met a brutal end.
All I could think was: karma comes around. I felt no sadness.
Those toxic people and their toxic behavior have nothing to do with me anymore.
The rest of my life will be filled with nothing but happiness.
