Chapter 4
I turned to look at him, my expression serious.
“Itai, you’ve tried several times to steal my nephew’s girlfriend. This isn’t right, is it?”
Itai suddenly grabbed my hand.
“Leila, what I want has never been your nephew’s girlfriend, but you. When he was with you, he couldn’t forget Leela, which is why I want to fight for you.”
“I’m unmarried, and it’s my first marriage. We know each other well. Right now, you need a
spouse, and I’m your best choice, aren’t I?”
Reason told me to refuse, but my grandfather didn’t have much time left, and I couldn’t
think of anyone more suitable than Itai.
I agreed.
Itai was thrilled and immediately suggested I move out of Piotr’s apartment.
I responded with a simple “Hmm,” I had already packed my things.
I took my suitcase down, and from now on, there would be no more ties with Piotr.
Itai drove me back to my place.
Coincidentally, my parents saw us. They began interrogating me, asking if he was my boyfriend.
I stayed silent for a moment, then nodded, silently acknowledging it.
My mom squeezed my hand.

Chapter 4
“He seems like a good boy, talented and handsome. Let’s bring him to see your grandfather soon, pick an auspicious date, and get married. Let your grandfather see you get married.”
My voice was hoarse.
“Okay.”
For the next half month, Itai appeared every day at my door and outside my office building, claiming it was to build our relationship.
My parents grew more and more satisfied with him. After hearing his promise to take care of me, they took us both to the hospital.
On my grandfather’s hospital bed, after seeing Itai and I holding hands, he nodded in
approval.
“The 18th of next month sounds good.”
I was about to ask if that wasn’t too rushed–after all, Itai hadn’t prepared anything and hadn’t even met his parents.
Itai smiled and agreed.
“Sure, I’ll go back and discuss it with my parents, and prepare the betrothal gifts.”
My parents quickly said it wasn’t necessary.
But Itai was very insistent.
“This is my attitude toward Leila. I don’t want to see her suffer. What others have, she should have, and even more than that.”
When these words were said, my grandfather laughed heartily and grew even fonder of Itai.
After leaving the hospital, I asked Itai, uneasy.
Chapter 4
“Won’t this be too sudden? What if your parents don’t approve?”
Itai looked at me gently and held my hand.
“Are you worried my parents won’t agree? Leila, how about you meet them tomorrow?”
I nodded. Sooner or later, we would get married, and I would meet his parents.
The next morning, I woke up early to get dressed and made myself presentable. My parents
also handed me the gifts they had prepared.
When we arrived at the Brown family home, I was still a little nervous. Itai patted me on
the shoulder, signaling me not to be afraid.
When Grandpa heard that Itai was bringing his girlfriend home, he spent the entire day
smiling from ear to ear.
At dinner, when Itai mentioned that we were getting married next month, it seemed
rushed. However, when he mentioned it was because of my grandfather’s regret, Grandpa
immediately agreed and promised to give us a grand wedding.
After dinner, Grandpa wanted to speak with Itai alone and told me to wander around the
house.
I walked through the garden, squatting by the pond to watch the fish.
“Leila Hall, I can’t believe it’s really you. You’re so shameless.”
I turned around and saw Leela standing behind me.
I had no interest in arguing with Leela, so I was about to turn away, but she suddenly grabbed my arm.
“Leila, you’re just a substitute. You know Piotr and I are getting married, yet you still act as a mistress, don’t you?”
Chapter 4
Before I could explain, I heard footsteps approaching.
Leela whispered in my ear:
“If you and I both fell into the water, who do you think Piotr would save?”
Before I could respond, she pulled me into the pond.
I couldn’t swim and instinctively began flailing.
By the time Piotr arrived, he saw both Leela and I crying out for help.
At that moment, I also saw Piotr. He seemed surprised but didn’t hesitate to jump into the
water and swim toward Leela.
My body slowly sank, and I no longer had the strength to struggle.
Just as I was ready to accept my fate, someone suddenly lifted me up by the waist.
I gasped for air in Itai’s arms, but I noticed he was trembling, his arms tightly holding me.
I raised my hand to hold him.
“I’m fine.”
After I regained my composure, I walked toward Piotr, who was holding a trembling, pitiful–looking Leela,
Piotr looked me over and asked:
“Leila, why are you here at the Brown family home?”
Grandpa arrived just in time and overheard the question.
He struck Piotr’s back with his cane.
Chapter 4
“How dare you talk like that to your elders?”
Piotr frowned.
“What elders?”
Itai stepped forward and wrapped his arm around me, looking quite pleased.
“Let me introduce you. This is my fiancée, Leila Hall. We’re getting married on the 18th of next month. The next time you see her, be sure to call her ‘Ms. Hall‘.”
