How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 41

Winifred finally agreed to meet the lawyer, Mr. Lee, mostly as a favor to Hunter.

Inside the coffee shop, Winifred sat wearing a simple T-shirt and loose jeans. Her long hair fell around her shoulders, framing a fair, makeup-free face that looked both innocent and gentle.

The man across from her was clearly pleased with her appearance. He slid a menu toward her. "Ms. Spencer, what would you like to drink? Please, order anything."

"Thank you," Winifred said with a slight nod, ordering a simple coffee.

"Ms. Spencer, let me introduce myself," the man began. "My name is Zachary Lee. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a law degree. I'm currently a partner at a law firm, with a seven-figure annual income, which will only increase. I own a house outright, no mortgage…"

Zachary rattled off his credentials with confidence, but Winifred's mind was elsewhere.

"Ms. Spencer, I've told you about myself. Shouldn't you return the favor?"

Winifred's expression was placid. "Me? There's not much to tell. I'm just an ordinary dentist, as I'm sure Mr. Reed told you."

Zachary chuckled. "You're too modest, Ms. Spencer. I know that Portside Medical University is a top-tier institution, and Zion Medical Center is a major hospital."

Winifred just smiled without saying anything.

"Well then, Ms. Spencer, let's cut to the chase," Zachary said. "I'm very impressed with you. With your looks and my intelligence, our future children will undoubtedly be exceptional. If you agree to marry me, I'm willing to add your name to the deed of my house. However, I have one condition. My work is very demanding, so I would expect you to quit your job after we marry and focus on our family. Of course, I'll provide you with a generous household allowance. What do you think?"

Are all men this arrogant these days?

Winifred smiled. "I'm sorry, Mr. Lee, but I can't meet your condition. I have no intention of quitting my job."

"Ms. Spencer, I urge you to reconsider," Zachary said, his smile fading. "It's not every day you meet a man as successful as I am. I'm only interested because you're both beautiful and a graduate of a prestigious university."
