What Sawyer said wasn't wrong, but to Kate, it only sounded like he was just afraid of getting dragged into trouble.
She couldn't understand how he could think that way.
After all, he was her husband. Helping her family should be his responsibility.
Kate was furious. "Sawyer, you have to help my dad with this."
"I don't think I can," Sawyer replied calmly.
"You…"
Her smile vanished. "How can you say that? George would do anything for the Ravelles, no matter the risk. Why can't you—"
Sawyer looked up. "Are you seriously comparing me to him again?"
"I'm not comparing! It's just a fact." Kate took a deep breath.
She couldn't stand that Rhea was better than her. Their men were both powerful and capable, so why should she be the one people laughed at?
"Sawyer, are you really not going to help?"
Seeing them argue, the maids didn't dare to step forward.
"I can't," Sawyer repeated.
Kate stood and took a deep breath before saying firmly, "Then we should just get divorced."
Sawyer turned to her.
Kate avoided his eyes. "My dad's my only family left. If you love me, you should know what to do."
With that, she walked out of the house.
Silence fell across the room. Not a single maid dared make a sound.
Meanwhile, Kate, who had stormed out in anger, wasn't the least bit anxious or regretful. She was certain that she had Sawyer wrapped around her finger.
He might be mad right now, but once he cooled down, he would realize that he was the one in the wrong.
"Ms. Pearson!" Lola finally caught up to her.
Kate turned, smiling. "Did Sawyer send you?"
"Yes." Lola panted. "I think he's worried about you. You should go back."
Kate turned away again. "Let him worry for a little longer. He's been cold to me these past few days. I can't keep giving in first. If he really loves me, he should give in to me every time, just like George does with Rhea."
"Ms. Pearson, I really think you shouldn't push it. What if Mr. Burton actually gets mad…" Lola tried to talk her out of it.
However, Kate was confident. "Don't worry. Sawyer loves me too much to ever divorce me. I just want him to know that I'm really mad this time. That way, he'll have no choice but to give in to me. You'll see. He's definitely going to come and make it up to me before nighttime."
