Lauren was even upset that Kate got a promotion and a raise without her ever needing to lift a finger for an entire month! Kate's monthly salary was 12 thousand dollars now!
Lauren, on the other hand, worked her ass off and barely pulled in six thousand dollars.
Every time she thought about it, Lauren felt like killing Kate, and she actually blurted out the thought.
Carter had just recovered from her last tirade when he heard her say over their video call that she wanted to kill Kate.
He frowned immediately. "You'd better get rid of such terrible thoughts right now."
Lauren replied expressionlessly, "I was just saying. Are you nuts?"
Carter said, "Some people might be joking, but if you're saying you want to kill her… you'd actually go through with it."
Lauren was at a loss for words.
"Don't glare at me. You expect me to believe that you never hired anyone to do that?"
Lauren nearly snapped a plastic spoon in half. "You bastard! Why are you even video calling me? If my food gets cold, I swear I'll eat at your place!"
"Peter just called me," Carter replied.
Lauren took a bite of her food, unimpressed. "What does that have to do with me?"
"He said he saw Sawyer. He was dining with a group, and a woman was getting way too close to him."
Lauren perked up instantly. "Where? Where?"
Carter shrugged. "You won't be able to get in there."
Lauren was rendered speechless.
Knowing Lauren had been butting heads with Kate, Carter instinctively wanted to share the news with her.
Lauren asked, "Aren't you a member of that place too? Can't you get in?"
"I could, but I can't afford it right now," Carter said honestly.
Lauren blinked. "Man… You were once loaded. Have you really fallen this far?"
