The Pearson family died out that day. The Ravelle family was barely involved in the twists and turns that led to this outcome. The Pearsons had dug their own grave. No one had gone after their lives. It was just the end they were destined for. 

Rhea was quiet for a moment. Then, she said, “Got it.” 

George returned around noon. He’d hurried home after wrapping up his work. Since getting married, he had devoted more of his time to his family. 

Louie’s company had moved to Draventh and now operated under Snider Group. When George couldn’t step away, he’d send Louie to handle things. And so far, Louie hadn’t disappointed. He’d achieved solid results. To this day, he still felt smug about latching onto Rhea early on. 

“What’s wrong?” George followed Rhea into the bedroom. 

She glanced at him. 

“Hmm?” 

She shot him another look. “I need to tell you something.” 

Her expression made George’s stomach tighten. “What is it? Did something happen?” 

Rhea leaned back against the wall and sighed. “I…” 

After a long pause, George got anxious. “Will you just tell me already?” 

“I’m pregnant.” She showed him the results of her pregnancy test. 

George lowered his head and stared at the report in silence for a long time, not even reaching out to take it. 

Rhea asked, “You don’t want the baby? I’m fine with that. I’ll just—” 

“What do you mean by that?” He grabbed her wrist. “I’m just… I’m just surprised.” 

How could he not want the child? 

God knew how desperate he’d been from the moment they’d made things official, to getting engaged, to getting married. However, he couldn’t pressure her. 

After they married, he would’ve loved for her to be pregnant the very next day. This would be their baby… It was something he used to only dare dream about.
