Once Ruby learned of Rhea’s pregnancy, she treated it like it was a full–on emergency. She ordered Rhea and George to move back into the Ravelle residence so she could personally take care of Rhea throughout the entire pregnancy. 

Back at the house, Rhea pulled Ruby aside. “Mom, don’t be like this. If Elena marries Nathan someday and gets pregnant, she’ll feel that it’s unfair if you can’t take care of her the same way.” 

“I will!” Ruby promised. “But it’s not like they’re getting married. Honestly, your brother is going to be the death of me. Don’t even mention him!” 

Fair enough. 

Judging by their vibe, Nathan and Elena were definitely dating. They had brought up getting engaged a few times, but it never happened. No one really knew what was going on with them. 

“This is something George should handle,” Rhea said. 

Ruby didn’t want to bother with Nathan for now. Her attention was focused on Rhea’s pregnancy. After all, this was the family’s first grandchild! 

Liam took it just as seriously. He didn’t care whether it was a grandson or granddaughter. 

He was essentially retired, spending his days at home with Ruby as they arranged flowers, brewed tea, and occasionally went out for a round of golf together. Life was blissful for him. 

“Oh, man. Just thinking about holding my grandchild soon makes me so excited that I can’t stand it,” he said, buzzing like a teenager. 

Ruby couldn’t even bear to look at him. He used to have such a powerful presence. How had he turned into a doting grandfather overnight? 

During the pregnancy, Rhea was treated like the queen of the house. Being waited on hand and foot didn’t even begin to cover the treatment she received. 

After gaining 20 pounds, her due date arrived. 

Both the Ravelles and Sniders were on high alert. Everyone mobilized and headed to the hospital. 

It was a private hospital that had been arranged ahead of time. Rhea knew the doctor and hospital director personally. 

“You guys go grab those postpartum shapewear pieces I bought and the bag I packed,” Rhea said. 

“We don’t need that many people to go. I’ll stay here with you,” Ruby said. There was no way she could relax.
