I Refuse to Be Your Second Choice novel Chapter 116

The villa in the southern district and the two seaside apartments were worth well over two hundred million combined.

And five percent of Alexander's shares in the Ramirez Group would yield an incalculable amount in annual dividends.

When Natalie told Arianna about the supplementary agreement, she was utterly floored.

"No wonder rich families try to avoid divorce at all costs. This settlement is insane!"

Which was precisely why Natalie had refused it when Alexander first proposed it.

She wasn't short on money; she just wanted the divorce to be over. Besides, the memory of how she had lost her child was still painfully vivid. Accepting this money would feel like she had traded her baby's life for it.

But Alexander had been firm. "If you don't accept the supplementary agreement, the divorce agreement is void. I will not consent to a divorce."

Natalie had no choice but to accept.

---

Aaron Lee was reporting to Alexander on the follow-up from Ramirez Logistics.

After he finished, he waited for his boss's instructions.

The office was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"Clear my schedule for tomorrow morning. We're going to the Marriage Registration Office," Alexander finally said.

Aaron was taken aback. "You signed it?"

Alexander gazed out the window, his mind replaying the photos he had seen that night.

Eugene Ramirez shielding Natalie in his arms. Paparazzi had also caught them sitting in a restaurant, smiling at each other. There was a relaxed quality to Natalie in those photos, a comfort she never showed with him.

In that moment, rage and jealousy had nearly consumed him. He had wanted to call and demand to know if Eugene was the only one she could see.

But the instant the call connected, he overheard her conversation with Arianna.

They sounded drunk. Natalie's voice was choked with emotion as she asked, bewildered, "Why won't Alexander Ramirez just let me go…"

His jealousy and anger dissipated. They say the truth comes out when you're drunk. She truly wanted to leave him.

This morning, seeing Natalie and Eugene together outside the logistics park had solidified his decision.

Alexander didn't answer Aaron's question, instead giving him a quiet order.

"I need you to do two things. First, transfer the southern villa, the seaside apartments, and five percent of my Ramirez Group shares to Natalie Watson's name. Second, pull all Ramirez Group investments from the White Group."

Alexander had seen her Cayenne pull up. Natalie stepped out in a stunning red dress that accentuated her graceful figure. Her dark, wavy hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her makeup was flawless.

She stood by the entrance, the wind catching her hair, drawing glances from passersby and people leaving the building.

Seeing Natalie's attire, Aaron didn't dare say another word.

She didn't look like she was here for a divorce; she looked like she was celebrating one.

Alexander opened the car door and crossed the street.

Natalie checked her watch. It was exactly nine o'clock.

When she looked up again, she saw Alexander approaching, impeccably dressed in a tailored black suit, as handsome and imposing as ever.

"Sorry I'm late," he said as he reached her.

"It's fine. Let's go in."

The striking pair walked into the Marriage Registration Office, one in a red dress, the other in a black suit. Who would have guessed they were there to get a divorce?

They sat down at the divorce counter, and the clerk, pointing to the other side of the room, said, "The marriage license counter is over there."
