A DNA test could be faked.
But once the baby arrived, the Ramirez family would see right away that the child looked nothing like Alexander. As the kid grew up, the differences would only get more obvious. The second Alexander noticed something was off, he’d ask for another test without a doubt.
Camila White’s voice floated through the phone, soft and calm, steadying Eric Bailey. “You’re overthinking it. We’ll deal with problems as they come. We got past the first hurdle, and we’ll handle the next one too. What matters most right now is that you find out everything about that woman, and help me get officially engaged and married into the Ramirez family. That’s what’s important, okay?”
Eric was still uneasy, but he knew Camila was right. They needed to focus on the biggest issue first.
“We haven’t seen each other in ages. Let’s meet up soon.”
Camila’s patience was wearing thin, but she hadn’t seen Eric in over two weeks, and she still needed him on her side. She had to keep him close for now.
“Fine. Once you get the info on that woman, we’ll meet.”
Before leaving, there was still one last auction at Billy Firth’s place.
Ava Thompson handed Natalie Watson the guest list. “Mr. Ramirez is interested in a few porcelain pieces this time. He’s coming too,” Ava said.
Alexander Ramirez’s name was right at the top, followed by Samuel Thompson and Bruce Ward.
Natalie nodded and closed the folder. “How about giving this auction a try yourself?”
Ava’s eyes went wide in shock. “Wait, you want me to be the auctioneer?”
Since the main items were ancient Kaston porcelain, the place was packed with both pro and amateur collectors. The room buzzed with excitement until the media’s attention swiveled to the entrance.
Alexander Ramirez walked in with Camila White on his arm. He was in a black suit, she wore a white silk gown. They looked like something out of a fairy tale, drawing stares and whispers wherever they went.
They were shown to a private VIP section, where Samuel Thompson and Bruce Ward were already waiting.
“Mr. Ramirez, you’re not secretly in love with me, are you? Otherwise, why do I see you at every auction?” Samuel said with a teasing smile.
Alexander didn’t even look at him. “I should be asking you that, Mr. Thompson.”
Samuel laughed. “My cousin is the auctioneer today. I’m here to support her. By the way, do you know who taught her everything she knows?”
