I Refuse to Be Your Second Choice novel Chapter 304

Back at the villa, Camila White sat glued to her screen, watching Natalie Watson’s livestream auction. Natalie looked so calm and graceful, smiling softly as she introduced each item. The live chat was exploding with compliments and excitement every time a bid went through. Each new notification felt like a slap to Camila’s face.

Her expression soured in an instant.

This can’t be happening… Why is this happening?

With a burst of frustration, Camila hurled her tablet at the ground. Her breath came in sharp bursts, her eyes blazing with fury and resentment. She had been so sure that Alexander’s crackdown would destroy Natalie and tank Billy Firth’s auction. The whole plan felt bulletproof. But now, Natalie was winning the internet, and everyone was eating it up.

That bitch. Why her? Why now?

Just then, a maid rushed in, stopping short at the sight of the tablet on the floor and Camila’s twisted expression.

“Ms. White, are you alright? Do you feel sick?”

Camila forced herself to relax, smoothing out her features. She couldn’t let the staff, all handpicked by the Ramirez family, see her fall apart.

“I’m fine. The tablet just slipped,” she said, keeping her voice even.

She flashed a practiced smile. “Did you need something?”

“Your father, Luke, is here. He’s downstairs.”

Camila didn’t hesitate. “Tell him to come up.”

A few minutes later, Luke White walked in, a worried smile on his face.

“I heard you were finally out of the hospital. I brought some supplements for you. I’ll have the maid make them into soup,” he said, stepping into the room.

“Supplements?” Camila’s words came out sharp and bitter. “Is that really what you think I need right now? If you’d handed the White Group over to me earlier, do you think I’d be stuck losing to someone like Natalie Watson?”

Luke flinched, his face darkening. He’d never seen his once-obedient daughter talk to him like this, let alone raise her voice.

Back in the day, he would’ve smacked her across the face for this kind of attitude and kicked her out without a second thought. But things were different now. The White Group belonged to Camila. The day he named her as his successor, he lost his grip on everything. Their whole family, including Luke himself, was at her mercy now.

He took a steadying breath, trying to keep his irritation in check. He forced a softer tone.

“The White Group is yours now. You still have plenty of time to deal with Natalie Watson. Plus, the Ramirez family thinks the world of you. Why let this get to you so much?”

Camila gave a cold, mocking laugh, her eyes full of contempt.

“Do you even know why the White Group fell apart under you? Or why your precious son couldn’t save it either?”
