Eric just turned and started to walk away.
“Go ahead, turn me in if you want!” Camila yelled at his back.
He froze. She marched right up to him, dug around in his pockets without hesitation, found his phone, and pressed it into his hand.
“Call Alexander Ramirez right now. Tell him the baby I’m carrying isn’t his.”
Eric stared at the phone, not moving.
“Well? Are you going to call?” Camila pushed the phone closer. “Tell him how we ended up together. Tell him how I used another man’s child to marry into the Ramirez family. Then ask him to throw me out of Cabinda, or just have me killed. That way, you’ll get your revenge, and you’ll have paid me back for your child.”
Her voice started to crack, but she kept her eyes locked on his. Even with her eyes red, she fought hard not to let the tears fall.
“I never wanted you dead…” Eric closed his eyes, sounding tired and defeated.
“If I can’t have what I want, if I have to go back to the life I had before, how is that any different from dying?” Camila’s voice softened. “Eric, I don’t want to be controlled by my father anymore. I don’t want to be married off to some random guy, living a life worse than an animal. I just want to have a say in my own life. Why can’t you help me?”
“Marry me. I’ll protect you, I promise.” His answer was immediate, almost desperate.
“You don’t get it!” Camila shook her head. “If I lose my title as Mrs. Ramirez right now, my dad will just marry me off to the next old man who’s useful to him. Your family is fine, but the Bailey Group still belongs to your father, and my dad only cares about what’s good for the White Group. Eric, I have no one else. Right now, you’re the only one I can count on.”
Tears started rolling down her cheeks as she spoke, her whole expression so full of sadness it hurt to look at her.
Watching her cry, Eric’s heart just couldn’t take it anymore. He reached out and gently wiped the tears away.
“Don’t cry, Camila.”
But the more he tried to comfort her, the harder she cried.

After the livestream ended, Anne handed Natalie a bottle of water.
“Nora, that livestream was amazing. We sold every single item, and people are already begging for our next one.” Anne’s grin was so wide her eyes nearly disappeared.
Livestream auctions weren’t exactly new, but usually they just happened on a company’s private website for a select group of clients. This time, Natalie had chosen a public platform, letting way more people see what a real auction was like. It turned out to be a hit. Everyone thought it was super interesting and different.
Samuel Thompson came over with a big smile. “Congratulations. That auction went really well.”
Natalie lowered her gaze, smiling softly. “Thank you.”
Before she could say anything else, someone hurried over. “Nora, headquarters is calling for you.”
