As soon as Natalie finished speaking, quiet whispers filled the meeting room.
The buyers looked at one another, clearly tempted by her suggestion.
“That sounds simple enough in theory, Ms. Watson,” one of the women shot back, her tone icy. “But appraisals take time. What about our money while we wait?”
Natalie smiled, calm and steady. “Your funds will be protected. Before the appraisal results come in, we can draw up an agreement so you have nothing to worry about. If the pieces are real, we’ll go ahead with the deal. If not, we’ll refund you right away and cover any losses.”
The room went silent for a few seconds. Then someone muttered, “Honestly, that seems fair.”
“Yeah, it’s better than just getting a refund right now.”
“And how do we know you’ll follow through?” the same woman pressed.
At that moment, Natalie’s secretary knocked and came in, handing her a document.
It was the agreement Natalie had asked to be prepared earlier.
Natalie held it up for everyone to see. “This is the contract. It clearly lists our promises and the compensation terms. Take your time to read it. If anything doesn’t sit right with you, we can make changes right here.”
She handed the agreement to the woman, who read it carefully before passing it to the next person. Soon, the other buyers crowded around, eager to see for themselves.
With the tension finally fading, Natalie spoke again. “Billy Firth has always put integrity first. We’re going to investigate this thoroughly and give you all the answers you deserve. All I ask is that you give us a little time. We want to give you peace of mind in return.”
The buyers finished reviewing the agreement, nodding as they found nothing to object to.
“Fine. Since you’re being honest and direct, I’ll give you my trust this time,” the woman said, signing her name first.
Alexander had tried to get her to hand over her resources to The White Group. She refused, and right after that, the counterfeit scandal broke, giving Camila White the perfect opening to steal away their clients.
“And on top of that,” Anne continued, “they’re claiming they exposed the counterfeit issue at Billy Firth to protect the industry’s reputation.”
The White Group’s public statement put even more pressure on Billy Firth, making things worse.
Natalie looked at Anne.
“Have PR release a statement right away. Make it clear where we stand, and tell everyone we’ll share the full results of our investigation, no matter what they are. Say that we welcome oversight from both our competitors and the authorities.”
As soon as she finished, her phone buzzed.
It was a message from Camila White.
