Chapter 394 Honeymoon: Perfect Memories
I blinked at him, then took a few steps back.
He didn’t let me escape. For every step I took, he came closer, closing the distance between us.
‘I want you.‘
His voice rumbled above me, low and thick, his eyes slightly unfocused as something restless began to take root there.
I didn’t dare meet that heat. I lowered my head, trying to slip away, but he caught my chin and tilted it up, forcing me to look at him.
He was so close that his breath hit my face, hot and overwhelming.
‘Say yes,‘ he pressed.
His voice had gone very hoarse.
If I didn’t push him away soon, things were going to spiral fast.
I shoved at his chest, flustered. ‘After I shower.‘
He stopped mid–motion, just before his lips reached mine. The dazed look in his eyes faded slightly, replaced by a sly, triumphant grin.
‘Alright.‘
One word, and it was soaked in giddy, unfiltered excitement.
I pushed past him towards the bathtub.
I’d only taken a few steps when I realised he was following me.
I turned around. ‘What are you doing?‘
He curved his mouth into a smile. ‘Showering with you.‘
He didn’t give me a chance to say no.
The tub sat by the floor–to–ceiling window, with the deep blue sea just outside.
The night sky was clear, with not a single cloud. It looked so clean it felt like you could see the entire galaxy.
Starlight shimmered on the dark waves, breaking into faint ripples.
The sound of the tide rolled in again and again, steady and calming.
Later, Ashton and I lay in the petal–filled water, surrounded by a soft, sweet fragrance. Water and petals had spilled over the edge, soaking the floor.
Curled against his chest, I drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, sunlight scattered across the emerald sea, catching the surface and shimmering in a soft blue glow. A few thick white clouds floated lazily across the bright sky, looking like something straight out of a painting.
Ashton had planned diving for the day.
Since the kids were still too young to dive on their own, he rented a submarine instead. It was big enough for the four of us. Once we descended, the shutters on both sides opened up, revealing the underwater world through wide glass windows.
Schools of fish surrounded the submarine, bright and curious. Some of them pressed their big round eyes against the glass as if they were trying to peek inside.
Mickey and Minnie had their faces glued to the window. ‘Wow! There are so many fish!‘
“That one looks like the one in our science book. What’s it called again? I forgot!‘
I stood behind them, staring out at the colours swirling through the water, just as amazed as they were.
The deeper we went, the more fish we saw. The coral and plants thickened too, bursting with colour. Branching coral, boulder coral, table coral, anemones swaying gently with the current, all of it so vivid it felt unreal.
This was so much better than the last time I went underwater.
We had been moving for a while when, just as the submarine was about to ascend, a massive whale appeared in front of us. It was bigger than the submarine. When it glided past the glass, its sheer size blocked out almost everything else.
Mickey and Minnie went silent, eyes wide and sparkling.
Then Minnie said suddenly, ‘Do you think there might be mermaids down here?‘
Mickey shook his head. ‘Mermaids aren’t real.‘
‘But the stories…‘ she argued.
“They’re stories. Tales. Not real.‘
Their bickering was so familiar it almost felt comforting.
When the submarine resurfaced, none of us really wanted to leave.
That afternoon, Ashton told me he had a surprise planned.
He said, very casually, that we’d be taking wedding photos.
I nearly burst. We’d been married all this time and never taken proper wedding photos. I hadn’t expected him to plan something so thoughtful, and right in the middle of our honeymoon too.
Ashton wanted the kids to play at the hotel’s children’s club while a photographer followed us around the island

for the shoot, but the twins refused to be left behind. They insisted on joining in.
I was soft on them, and besides, I thought it would make a lovely memory, so I talked Ashton into letting all four of us do it together.
I changed into a white wedding dress and wore chunky white heels that were easy to walk in. My long wavy hair had been braided into a soft, intricate style, and there was a colourful flower crown on my head.
Minnie spotted a pair of huge white feathered wings in the studio. After asking the staff, she ran back grinning and begged me to put them on.
The wings were light and soft, almost floating, and with the wedding dress, I apparently looked like some kind of angel.
Three pairs of eyes lit up at once.
Ashton wore a classic peaked–lapel suit that fit him perfectly. He looked calm, elegant and annoyingly handsome.
The kids‘ outfits were a bit more playful. Mickey had a little black bow tie, and Minnie wore a dress that made her look like a tiny fairy. They both looked absurdly adorable.
Ashton and I took photos under the palm trees, kissed at the shoreline with the sunset behind us, and stood on the yacht with sunlight spilling over the waves.
The kids kept trying to steal the spotlight, either by pulling faces or throwing themselves into the frame, but Ashton kept telling them to stand further back or rein it in.
As far as he was concerned, they were the decoration. We were the main event.
I couldn’t help laughing at his unimpressed face.
The next few days flew by. Ashton had packed our schedule with everything from speedboat rides at sunset to island hikes. When the kids were at the children’s club, we snuck off for spa sessions or wandered through the local markets and fish stalls.
The days blurred into one long, perfect stretch of sunshine and sea.
Before I knew it, it was the last day of our honeymoon.
I sat in the departure lounge, watching planes take off and land outside, feeling a heavy kind of nostalgia settle in.
This trip had been unforgettable.
I could still picture the emerald water, the endless blue sky, and the house surrounded by the sea.
I turned and kissed Ashton on the cheek.
‘What’s this for?‘ he asked, smiling.
“Thank you. For a perfect honeymoon.‘
