Chapter 422 Junk in the Safe

“Kylie, if you’re determined to run away and marry him despite our warnings, we’ll just consider that you were never our daughter.”

At that moment, Gillian already looked a bit old, but her eyes were still bright, staring at Kylie with anger and deep disappointment.

“Kylie, I support you chasing true love, but he’s not a good man. Come home with me, and you’ll still be our little princess.”

Her dad had reached out to her back then, dressed in a custom-made suit, with a luxury watch on his wrist that was nearly impossible to get at the time.

But she was young then, head full of dreams, stubborn, and convinced that true love could overcome anything.

“No, Dad, Mom, I only want Henry. If you don’t agree, I’m not coming back.”

She turned away.

Back then, she was even more stubborn and ruthless than her parents, who were ready to disown her.

Thinking about it now, Kylie felt a shiver run through her.

Nadine quickly came over to steady her.

Kylie’s fingers pressed against Nadine’s smooth arm.

There was a time when her skin had been even softer than Nadine’s.

The Larsons were a famous elite family in Kingsland. As the only girl of her generation, she had been a true heiress-the one and only princess of Kingsland.

Now?

Kylie lifted her head.

All the glory was gone, leaving only the flowers that she had carefully tended yet were still showing dead branches.

A sudden pang of sadness hit her.

“The wedding dress is still on the top floor. The address is in the safe in my room. The code is your dad’s birthday.

“Nadine, help me ship it.”

Kylie’s voice was soft and faint, like a thin fog that could be blown away any second.

Nadine’s eyes lit up with joy, but she quickly hid it.

She put on a serious face. “Okay, I’ll go take care of it now.”

Then, she rushed upstairs without even making sure Kylie was steady on her feet.

Kylie staggered, but Nadine was already gone.

That strange, unexplained feeling of uneasiness came back.

Kylie stared at the spot where Nadine had disappeared, feeling uneasy.

She shook her head, telling herself it was because of the rumors she’d heard lately.

After all, Nadine was the daughter left behind by her best friend, who died protecting her. She was sure Nadine must be just like Shannon.

Kylie sighed, walking slowly into the living room.

Upstairs, Nadine didn’t head straight to the top floor; she went into Kylie’s bedroom.

She went straight to the safe.

After entering Henry’s birthday, the lock clicked open.

Nadine’s eyes

lit up.

Back then, Henry said he couldn’t open that little safe in Kylie’s room. It turned out it used his birthday, and she opened it so easily.

She smirked.

Kylie shouldn’t blame her for being ruthless-she could only blame herself for being so naive, trusting her just like that.

Excited, Nadine swung the safe door open, but what she saw inside left her feeling a little

surreal.

Nadine grabbed a handful of the messy stuff inside.

No jewels, no gold bars-nothing valuable. Just a bunch of scattered scraps,

Nadine stubbornly reached deeper to search but finally gave up.

Why would anyone lock this junk in a safe?

Frustrated, Nadine quickly scanned the papers.

They were all worthless scraps-some sheet music, some sketches.

Nadine felt like she had gotten excited for nothing.

As she flipped through, she found one firm card that wasn’t as old and damaged as the other scraps. An address was written on it.

This must be where the Larsons live.

Nadine shoved the pile of useless papers back into the safe, took a few photos of the card, and sent them to Henry.

“Dad, here’s the Larsons’s address.”

Henry replied quickly, “Bring the wedding dress out.”

Nadine replied, “Okay.” Then, she quickly went up to the top floor to carefully pack the wedding dress.

She soon came downstairs with a huge box, almost half her height.

Kylie rushed over and asked the housekeeper for help. “This is such a big package. Nadine can’t carry it alone. Help her ship it out.”

Just as the housekeeper moved to help, Nadine quickly stopped her. “No, no! Mom, you’re underestimating me! It’s a big box, but it’s not heavy-it’s only one wedding dress. I can handle it myself. Don’t trouble the housekeeper; just have her stay here to look after you.”

Hearing Nadine’s thoughtful words, Kylie felt guilty about how she felt after Nadine left her earlier. She asked again, “Are you sure? It looks heavy for you.”
