Manuela’s POV

When Patrick felt pressured and opened his mouth to assure that Flavian had done nothing wrong, I became certain that whatever was happening, he had not betrayed me, and his intention, though misguided, was to protect me.

As the guys kept telling me everything that was going on and repeating over and over that Flavian was afraid I would leave him, I understood what he felt. I could understand his fear, but I couldn't understand why he didn't trust that my love was strong enough to handle it.

However, as he spoke, as he lamented and explained how much he loved me, I began to understand that the fear he felt was so real that it prevented him from thinking of another possibility - the possibility that I would stand firm by his side. I felt as if the fear of my reaction had paralyzed his thoughts, and he focused only on the possibility of losing me.

I couldn't ignore that he was right about my beliefs, because he was. I would never get involved with a married man, but his situation was more complicated than that - as incredible as it might seem, he didn't even know he was still married. That surprised me, and what surprised me even more was the power that Patrick explained to me that Flavian's father had.

I left Patrick's house determined; I would make that woman run away and wouldn't give her what she wanted. That man was mine, and I wouldn't let him go. I loved him too much to give up on him because of some scheme or his past. But he needed to learn to trust me, and I still didn't know how to make that happen. However, when I saw him break down in front of me, crying and kneeling before me, I was certain that he had learned his lesson and wouldn't make the same mistake again.

I sat on his lap, looking into his eyes, and I assured him that my love for him was much greater than the entire world out there, and that it remained intact, alive, and wasn't going anywhere.

He kissed me, and there were so many feelings in that kiss that I couldn't hold back my own tears anymore. What existed between us was beyond human comprehension, beyond what could be explained - it was just as he always said, we were made for each other, and that couldn't be changed.

"I love you so much, Manu, so much!" he said when we had to separate our lips, gasping for air.

"I love you too, Flavian, so much," I said through tears, mirroring the tears he was shedding.

"Oh, my beautiful little one, my love, please don't cry. Forgive me, little one, forgive me for being an idiot?"

"Never doubt my love again. Never again, understood?"

"Never again!" He hugged me, and we stayed like that for a while, just feeling each other's presence. "Let's get out of here, little one. Let's go to a hotel, and tomorrow we'll look for another apartment, and I'll put this one up for sale."

"Why?" I looked at him, not understanding what he was saying.

"Because I think you'll keep looking at everything and remembering what happened today, what that woman did here. You've already thrown out the sheets," he explained, and I laughed. Flavian was too intense and took everything to an extreme level. He looked at me as if I were crazy for laughing.

"Flavian, I'm not leaving our home!" I said, still amused by the absurdity of his proposal. "Yes, our home. I love this apartment. It's where I gave myself to you, and it's where we're going to stay. I threw out the sheets because that creature's perfume was so strong it wouldn't come out of the fabric."
