Flavian’s POV

Finally, the divorce hearing had arrived. It seemed like an eternity had passed until this day. I was anxious, nervous, and worried when I arrived at the courthouse. It was almost time for the hearing, and Sabrina still hadn't shown up. The last thing I needed was for this woman to disappear on the day of the hearing.

"Dr. Castle, if Sabrina doesn't show up, do you think the judge might want to reschedule?" I asked my lawyer, feeling my concern growing.

"It depends. But don't worry, I have good arguments for him to decide today. I even spoke with him yesterday," Dr. Castle was very calm; his voice never wavered, and he seemed unshakeable.

We were called into the courtroom, and still no sign of Sabrina, but just as my lawyer was about to start arguing with the judge to make a decision, Sabrina burst into the room accompanied by a lawyer.

"This is a waste of time, Flavian," Sabrina complained right away.

"Counsel, please inform your client this isn't a marketplace," the judge reprimanded the lawyer for their abrupt entrance.

"We're cutting it a bit close, Your Honor," the lawyer retorted.

"Actually, you're late. But let's get to the matter at hand." The judge seemed somewhat ill-tempered and in a hurry.

After the formalities and the judge's explanation of the hearing's purpose, Sabrina's lawyer requested to speak.

"Your Honor, my client, despite deeply loving her husband, is willing to grant the divorce since that is his wish, but he filed the wrong procedure, therefore I request the dismissal of his petition," the lawyer spoke with complete composure, and I wanted to jump at his throat. Sabrina was putting on a poor victim face that made my blood boil.

"Your Honor, we are here to correct a serious error that occurred due to a crime. The documents used to annul the divorce were fraudulent, my client's signature was forged. We shouldn't be talking about a new divorce when the previous one was properly executed, and its annulment was nothing more than the result of criminal deception," Dr. Castle responded promptly.

The judge looked at the computer screen and remained silent for a while, analyzing everything that Dr. Castle had claimed and all the evidence he had presented.

"Sabrina, when the divorce decree was annulled, there wasn't a hearing, just the submission of documents with the petition. Did you see your husband sign the documents?" The judge asked.

"Me? O-of course I did. We were together. We were very emotional when we found out I was pregnant," Sabrina blatantly lied. Dr. Castle just made a subtle gesture for me to wait.

"And in the last seven years, where did you live again?" The judge asked, and Sabrina glanced at her lawyer, who seemed confused.

"In Bellwood," she answered with another lie.

"Are you sure about that?" The judge insisted, and she appeared a bit nervous.

"Yes," was all she said.

"That's enough for me," the judge said and paused again, typing something on the computer for a few minutes. When he finished, he turned his eyes to all of us. "Well, I am deciding the case. I am reinstating the divorce decree issued seven years ago. Sabrina has blatantly lied here today; there is robust evidence in the records that she has lived in London for the past seven years. Furthermore, she claims to have seen Flavian sign the documents, but there is forensic evidence confirming that the signatures were forged."

I felt an immense relief, exhaling as all the tension drained from my body; finally, I had managed to end this farce. My lawyer had done an excellent job, obtaining evidence that Sabrina had been living abroad all this time and that I had never met with her, and he had included in the case the forensic report stating that the signatures weren't mine.
