Cam’s POV

After visiting my sister, I kept thinking about how to get Rita's sample for the DNA test. Flavian had explained the ways to get it, either through a strand of hair or a glass she had used. So I kept wondering how to obtain it.

I came to the conclusion that the best approach would be to enter the lion's den. I woke up early and went to Rita's house at the time I knew she would be at church. I never understood why she spent so much time at church when she was such a terrible person. Perhaps she just wanted to maintain her facade of being a good person for the rest of the town.

"Cam, good morning." The maid received me and found my presence strange. After I left this house, the few times I came back were because of Manu, who thankfully wasn't here anymore.

"Hi, Cida, is your boss home? I need to talk to her."

"She went to church. And young Julian is sleeping."

"Of course he is, that good-for-nothing. I'll wait for Rita, I need to speak with her." I said as I walked in and sat down in the living room.

"She'll be a while." Cida warned me and seemed uncomfortable with my presence.

"That's not a problem, I'll wait."

"Cam, I'm sorry, but ma'am told me not to let you into her house." That was news to me, but it didn't surprise me.

"Oh, did she now?! Well, I'm already in and I'll wait for her. Cida, could you bring me some coffee? Since I'll have to wait." Cida looked displeased but couldn't do anything about it, I wasn't going to leave.

I waited until she disappeared into the kitchen. I knew I had to be quick, there wasn't much time. I rushed to Rita's bedroom and searched for her hairbrush on the dresser. I found it in a drawer and carefully collected some strands of hair, placing them in a small bag I had brought. I hurried out of there and entered the living room just as Cida returned.

"Where were you? What were you doing in there?" Cida questioned me as if I were an intruder. I knew she was Rita's faithful watchdog.

"I went to the bathroom, Cida. You seem very agitated by my presence, don't you think?" I challenged her, and she frowned.

"Look, Cam, you'd better leave. The mistress doesn't want you here," Cida repeated her litany while I picked up the coffee cup.

"You're loyal to your mistress, aren't you, Cida?" I brought the cup to my lips, but just to annoy that annoying woman, I spat the coffee back into the cup and made a face. "Wow, what horrible coffee! You need to learn how to make coffee! You know what, I'm tired of waiting, you can't even get a decent cup of coffee in this house." I turned my back to leave but still heard the maid curse.

"You insolent brat! Better not come back here."

I would not return; I already had what I needed. Before heading to the company, I stopped by the town's medical clinic. I needed to send Rita's hair samples to the laboratory. Flavian and I had prepared everything when I was there - he got a DNA test kit from a laboratory, along with Manu's sample, and gave them to me. This way, I could have the test done directly from my city without having to go to Paradise Port. I just needed to add Rita's sample and include one of my own to get the results.
