CH 149
Wil
He was sitting at a table on the risen platform of the press conference room at C.R. Technology and alongside him was Liam, who Calvin had flown out here on his private jet. The press were all over that as well. They were tracking everything to do with Calvin’s movernents, right down to where his plane was. They also knew that both Calvin and Marilyn were currently holed up at Cliffside.
There were reporters currently camped outside the estate, and so they’d decided it was best to have both sides; Calvin and Marilyn’s legal team here today, to present all the information that was about to be released to Houston and likely the world being who Calvin was, and the circles he moved in.
It had been three days since they’d been seen together, and Wil had announced on the afternoon of the 1st, that a press conference would be held later in the week regarding what was going on. If they could be patient for a few days, everything would be explained to them.
Marilyn had not returned to Virginia with the boys, seeing as she couldn’t get out of the estate without the press knowing, there was only one way in and out; via the front gate, something he knew Calvin was now working on trying to rectify as well. Because Marilyn was adamant about trying to keep the boys out of the direct line of press, as she had always done.
There were a lot of things to be explained here today, and he and Liam had worked long, hard hours to get their wording right and have both Calvin and Marilyn agree with it all. Now, as the press sat waiting, he stood to hush them, and he introduced Liam to them all as Marilyn Riddley’s lawyer. That they would both be here to give them the information that the press wanted about if Marilyn was in fact Marrin, Calvin’s missing
ex–wife.
Calvin hadn’t left the estate since the 1st, and the press knew it as well. He wasn’t coming into the office at all, but they knew who was coming and going. His parents had turned up at the estate on the 2nd and were still there. Kay had refused to leave, stating she was there for moral and emotional support for both Calvin and Marilyn, and had also kept the twins occupied when it was needed.
The press didn’t know that Calvin had cleared his January Callender months ago, so the man didn’t have to come into the office at all. Their hovering here at C.R. Technology was of no use.
The moment his introduction was over, questions were fired at him. He knew it was coming and was prepared for it. He raised a hand to quiet them, “I’d like you to sit quietly and only ask questions at the end. Liam and I will answer your questions, if you still have any when this is over. Though I must warn you what you are about to learn and see,” he indicated to the projector screen, “is not going to be pretty or for the faint
of heart.”
“Please do not photograph anything that is up on the screen today,” Liam stated. “Copies of certain pictures agreed upon by my client for the press, will be made available at your request. My client, Marilyn, is unhappy about this but has reluctantly agreed to allow this due to the circumstances.”
Wil nodded to him. “So let’s begin with Marilyn Riddley herself,” he stated, and turned to look at the screen as a picture of her in the hospital bed with all the tubes coming from her, and the full scale of her injuries sustained from her car accident appeared.
There were many gasps going around the room and Wil sighed even as he looked at it. It wasn’t a nice photo,

but it was what was needed to explain everything in the end and the only photo Marilyn would an was also a time and date stamp on the image.
He directed a laser pointed at the time and date. “As you can see, a terrible accident happened to Marsin This occurred at the same time as the plane crash in Italy was reported here in the U.S.” he told them, the screen changed and there was a picture of Calvin at the airport in Italy, all dressed up and waiting for Marrin to arrive.
He clicked the button again and the two photos lined up side by side on the screen.
His eyes moved towards the crowd of reporters. “What you don’t know is that, ever though Calvin and Marrin had gotten a divorce, Calvin regretted it right away, and flew to Italy to propose and bring Marrin back to his side.
“They didn’t hate each other, just wanted different things in their lives, and Calvin, as you’re aware, is well Stubborn, as a mule, didn’t like that his wife wanted to change her career, and move away from his side to do her own thing. She was, as you all know, a valuable asset to his company. This is the reason for the divorce, because he saw it as her wanting to leave him and no longer be by his side, when that wasn’t actually the case.” Wil shook his head “Calvin realised his mistake moments after they said goodbye at the airport. It was only a small lie, and both Marilyn and Calvin had agreed to him stating this.
Another picture appeared on the screen, and he looked at Liam, who hit the play button, “This is the day she left and got on the plane.” The entire press got to see them talk, but not hear the words, but see how Clavin yanked her back and kissed her with all he had, see her cry as she yanked herself from him and left.
“They still loved each other, but…” Wil sighed. “Things happen to tear people apart. Sometimes love just isn’t enough when there is conflicting emotions. Marrin had at this point already changed her name legally to
Marilyn Riddley to start her life as an author that was in no way attached to Calvin. But because of the
“As you can see, Marilyn was trying to call Calvin and tell him she was alive and not on that plane. She didn’t want him to believe she was dead. Still loved him and didn’t want him to suffer the guilt of knowing he’d put
The screen moved on as between him and Liam they told the crowd that had now fallen completely silent at all they were learning as the pictures of Marrin, broken and alone in the hospital. All her injuries were laid out for them to hear and understand. Liam stood and explained about the amnesia and the reports were shown, and he stated, “This is why no one could find Marrin Reeves. She simply no longer existed. Marrin woke up as Marilyn in that hospital with no past to recall.” He turned and looked at Wil.
Wil nodded, and he clicked the button, and a picture of the twins appeared on the screen, and many more hushed words rippled through the crowd. It was followed by a picture of Marilyn and then Calvin being added to either side of the boys, “They have twin sons, which only came to light; that they were Calvin’s, after the altercation six months ago when these two came across each other once more.” Liam informed the crowd, telling them that this was when Marilyn had started to figure things out in her own mind and in turn this helped her to get her memories back, and realised she was Marrin, Calvin’s ex–wife.
