**Broken Doesn’t Mean End**
**By M. Kaushik**
**Chapter 12: There’s Always Someone Better**

“I don’t care who performed the surgery. What truly matters to me is the outcome.”

With that resolute declaration, the group advanced purposefully toward the ward, their footsteps echoing with determination.

Amanda, trailing behind, felt a surge of disbelief wash over her. She had never anticipated such a vehement reaction from her colleagues.

Grinding her teeth, she forced herself to keep pace with them, though her heart raced with a mix of anxiety and indignation.

Upon entering the ward, Calen immediately began to assess Stella’s condition. He checked her pulse, scrutinized her vital signs, and posed a series of questions that reflected both his expertise and his genuine concern. As he processed the information, a look of awe and admiration spread across his face. “What a miracle! Ms. Garcia’s current condition can only be described as nothing short of miraculous!”

He rose to his full height, a radiant smile illuminating his features. “Mr. Garcia, you can now rest easy. Ms. Garcia is out of danger.”

Turning to Robin, he added with an infectious grin, “Dr. Jefferson, consider yourself fortunate! Or perhaps it’s Ms. Garcia who is blessed with extraordinary luck. Even when she was teetering on the brink of death, she managed to encounter something divine.”

The way Calen emphasized the word “divine” revealed just how deeply moved he was by the situation.

“Divine?” Amanda exclaimed, her voice laced with incredulity, her expression a mix of disbelief and anger. “Dr. Wynn, you’re supposed to be the world-renowned Golden Hands! That incompetent fool! What kind of medical prowess could she possibly possess? She’s nothing but a fraud!”

The shock and humiliation coursing through her made her lose all semblance of restraint.

Her shrill voice pierced the air, causing Calen to momentarily furrow his brow in irritation.

When he looked up, his demeanor remained calm and gentle, yet his eyes glimmered with an icy resolve. “There’s always someone better out there, Amanda. Ms. Garcia’s current safety is the best testament to that.”

He paused, letting his words sink in before continuing, “The field of medicine is vast and limitless. There are countless others who possess far greater skill than I.”

He took a moment, then shifted gears with a sharpness that caught Amanda off guard. “But you, Dr. Porter, I’ve heard that Ms. Garcia’s acute allergic reaction was triggered because of your actions.”

Amanda’s complexion drained of color, a wave of panic washing over her. She hadn’t expected her misstep to reach Calen’s ears.

She opened her mouth to defend herself, but Calen swiftly cut her off.

“A true doctor acts with compassion. After making a grave error, you didn’t just fail to uphold your professionalism; you also shirked your responsibility and even vilified the person who genuinely saved the patient.”

His expression darkened, and he continued with a weighty tone, “You are unworthy of the title of doctor.”

“In contrast, Dr. Wolfe and the two other practitioners from the traditional medicine department prioritized the patient’s life, acted decisively, and collaborated with that young lady to save Ms. Garcia. They embody what young doctors should aspire to be.”

Amanda felt as though the ground had been pulled from beneath her. Her lips quivered, but no words came forth to defend herself.

With just a few sentences from Calen, her career had been irrevocably shattered.
