**TITLE: Broken Doesn’t Mean End**
**By M. Kaushik**
**Chapter 35: Threatening Me?**
Timothy had only glimpsed Helen from afar before today, and even then, his observations were tinged with admiration. From a distance, he had noted how her legs seemed to stretch endlessly, graceful and elongated, and her waist appeared impossibly slender, a vision of elegance.
Now, standing mere feet away, the dim lighting seemed to amplify her striking beauty, casting a soft glow that made her look even more enchanting.
“Miss,” he drawled, his voice low and languid as it drifted toward her, laced with a hint of mischief and allure. “Need a hand?”
Though the space between them was minimal, he maintained a respectful distance, hovering just on the edge of propriety.
Helen inhaled deeply, catching a whiff of a crisp, pine-like fragrance that clung to him, mingled with a subtle undertone of tobacco. Her gaze lifted to meet his dark eyes, and in that moment, she felt an unexpected rush of warmth wash over her.
His proximity was both intoxicating and disconcerting, a sensation she wasn’t accustomed to.
With a calm demeanor, she took a half-step back, her expression remaining cool and detached. “No need to trouble yourself, but thank you.”
Her tone was polite, yet it carried an air of distance, as if she were deliberately keeping him at arm’s length.
Timothy chuckled softly, a low, resonant sound that echoed in the air and vibrated through her, drawing her in with its magnetic charm.
“Alright,” he replied, his thin lips curling into a smile that was both playful and enigmatic.
He casually slipped a hand into his pocket and shifted slightly to the side, positioning himself in a way that effectively blocked Sean’s dark, menacing glare.
In that moment, he had unwittingly crafted a barrier, a blend of confrontation and protection that altered the dynamics of the space around them.
Tilting his head, he leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper meant just for her ears. “Then I’ll look forward to your performance.”
Though they stood only a short distance apart, Helen’s demeanor remained aloof, yet there was an inexplicable chemistry in the air, a strange harmony that seemed to bind them together.
Across the room, Sean’s eyes burned with a fierce intensity as he absorbed the scene unfolding before him.
Helen’s words struck him with an unforgiving force, akin to a sledgehammer crashing into his chest, the impact leaving him breathless and disoriented.
The sight of Timothy’s protective stance ignited a surge of panic and jealousy within him, threatening to unravel his carefully maintained composure.
The room was thick with disbelief, the onlookers frozen in shock as they processed the spectacle.
How could Helen possibly be acquainted with someone like Timothy?
Josh had already been an impressive figure, but Timothy’s presence added an entirely new layer of astonishment.
What was even more infuriating was the fact that Helen had brazenly turned down Timothy’s offer of assistance.
She was treating him with an icy indifference that left everyone in the room reeling.
