Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 113

Larissa scoffed and pulled her new mother behind her. “Who’s having a fit of anger with you, Aunt Vivica? Don’t you dare say things like that in front of my mother again. If you upset her, you’ll have to deal with me.”

Seeing Larissa so fiercely protective of Sapphira, Vivica felt a surge of bitterness, as if she might cough up blood.

Sapphira, meanwhile, stared at Larissa’s back, a secret, happy smile spreading across her face. This daughter of hers was a true comfort.

“My dear daughter…” Vivica began, her eyes welling with tears.

“Stop it, Aunt Vivica,” Larissa cut her off. “You’re making my skin crawl with this act.”

She took Sapphira’s hand with her left and Neville’s with her right. “Since you’re so eager to help, then please, get to it. My parents have been working tirelessly for days to prepare for this party. They deserve a good night’s rest.”

Sapphira and Neville exchanged a knowing smile and allowed Larissa to lead them away from the banquet hall.

Vivica stood frozen in place.

Kiernan, leaning on Jett’s arm, walked past her, casting a disdainful look in her direction. He shook his head. “A classic case of trying to be clever and losing everything.”

With that, he too left.

A few remaining guests, mostly close relatives of the Judson family, walked by, offering their sympathies. “Vivica, what on earth were you and Paxton thinking? You finally find your biological daughter, and instead of cherishing her, you drive her away. How did you manage to push her into the arms of Neville and Sapphira?”

Vivica felt like she had a mouthful of bitter herbs she couldn’t spit out. How could she explain that they never knew their daughter was so exceptional? They had assumed she would be grateful for a better life and would be obedient. Who could have predicted she would challenge their authority over an adopted daughter from day one?

She forced a pained smile. “It’s all a misunderstanding. We are her biological parents, after all. We won’t hold a grudge forever. We’ll reconcile with Larissa soon.”
