Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 13

The proposal shocked everyone in the room.

For Sapphira, the shock quickly turned to joyous disbelief. “Larissa, what did you just say?”

Larissa repeated herself. “Aunt, I want you and Uncle Neville to be my parents. Would that be okay?”

Paxton, finally snapping out of his stupor, forgot his dislike for his daughter and barked, “Don’t be ridiculous in front of your Grandpa!”

His own daughter was disowning him to claim his older brother as her father! It was a complete humiliation. Where was he supposed to put his face? And beyond that… Neville and Sapphira were childless, which meant the Judson fortune would eventually pass to his branch of the family. But if his daughter officially became their child, who knew how Kiernan would divide the inheritance?

“I’m not being ridiculous,” Larissa said seriously.

Leopold sneered. “So that’s your game. You can’t bear to give up the title of a Judson heiress, so you’ll stoop to something as absurd as asking Uncle and Aunt to adopt you.”

“You’re hilarious,” Larissa shot back. “What do you mean, I can’t bear to give it up? I am the Judson heiress. You must be talking about Honora. She’s the one who isn’t a Judson but is clinging on for dear life.”

Honora bristled at the comment but was secretly thrilled. This was the perfect solution. It would guarantee she could stay in the Judson family, and as long as Larissa was officially a Judson daughter, she could still be sent to marry the disabled Haskell.

Even Kiernan was taken aback by the suggestion. After a moment of thought, he said, “It’s not impossible. It would depend on whether Neville and Sapphira are willing.”

Ignoring Vivica, Larissa looked earnestly at beautiful Sapphira. “Would you and Uncle be willing to be my mother and father?”

Sapphira’s hands trembled. She looked to her husband for guidance. “Neville…”

Neville nodded. “Sapphira, I know you’ve always wanted a daughter. Now, we finally have one.”

Hearing her husband’s consent, Sapphira burst into tears of joy and hugged Larissa. “My dear child, I will be your mother. From this day on, you are my precious daughter.”

“Sapphira, how could you!” Vivica cried out in protest. Her feelings mirrored her husband’s; she could resent her own daughter, but she couldn’t tolerate her daughter calling someone else ‘Mom.’ It was a public slap in the face.
