Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 14

“Mom,” Larissa said, the word flowing naturally. The sound was music to Sapphira’s ears, but to Vivica, it was a dagger.

“Don’t be difficult, Larissa. I’m your real mother!”

Larissa pulled away from Sapphira’s embrace, her eyes cold as she stared at Vivica. “Don’t you dare call me your daughter, Aunt Vivica. Your daughter’s name is Honora.”

“Aunt Vivica?” The name struck her with disbelief, and her eyes widened. “I’m your mother, Larissa, not Aunt Vivica!” She lunged forward to grab Larissa’s arm.

Kiernan slammed his cane on the floor. “Enough! It’s too late for regrets! As the head of this family, I will make this official. My granddaughter will be registered as the daughter of Neville and his wife.”

“Dad…” Vivica pleaded.

Kiernan snapped. “Your daughter disowned you. You have only yourselves to blame!”

Vivica felt a surge of indignation. She had never imagined her daughter would be so stubborn. She had said a few harsh words, and in response, the girl had turned around and adopted her aunt as her new mother.

“Dad, the girl is just acting out,” Paxton tried again. “This talk of adoption is nonsense. No matter what, she is our daughter. We would never abandon her.”

“Stop flattering yourselves,” Larissa said. “I’m not acting out. I simply don’t want you. Even if you kicked Honora out right now, I still wouldn’t acknowledge you.”

Paxton’s eyes darkened at his daughter’s open defiance.

“If you don’t believe me,” Larissa added, “I’ll sign a legal document severing all ties with you.”

Vivica and Paxton were so furious they couldn’t speak.

Sapphira steadied herself and looked at Larissa, a hint of uncertainty in her eyes. “Larissa, now that it’s just us, tell me honestly. When you said you wanted us to be your parents, you weren’t just saying that out of anger, were you?”

Larissa hadn’t realized her decision would affect her aunt so deeply. It only strengthened her resolve. “Of course not. I genuinely like you both. From now on, you are my parents.”

She paused. “Unless… you don’t want me as your daughter?”

“Of course we do!” Sapphira said quickly. “I was just worried you were acting impulsively and might regret it later. If you’ve changed your mind, it’s not too late. We can tell your Grandpa not to change the registration.”

“I won’t,” Larissa said firmly. “I will never regret this.”

A relieved smile spread across Sapphira’s face. “Good. Larissa, from this day forward, you are our daughter, and no one is ever taking you away from us.”
