Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 51

“I understand, Grandpa,” Larissa replied. “I know my place. I am the true heiress of the Judson family.”

After hearing the recording of Honora’s words yesterday, Kiernan had done a lot of thinking. He sighed. “Unfortunately, compared to Honora, you dropped out of school after middle school. Even if we found a way to get you into a prestigious university now, it wouldn’t be practical. We can’t have you starting from high school at your age. So, what are your plans? Is there anything you want to learn? Or do you have a plan for your future?”

He added, “Honora was raised by your biological parents to be a celebrated prodigy in Regal City. That’s the real reason they don’t want to give her up. All that talk about raising her for twenty years and having feelings for her is just nonsense.”

Larissa understood his meaning. If she wanted to prove her worth in the Judson family, she had to be better than Honora.

The truth was, she’d dropped out of middle school because she found she could learn everything from books on her own, and the pace of teaching in school was too slow. She had someone buy her textbooks, and by the age of sixteen, she had already finished the curriculum for high school and her chosen university majors. As for skills outside of academia, she had learned everything that sparked her interest.

The artistic talents Honora was known for—playing instruments, painting, fluency in five languages—were among Larissa’s most trivial skills.

“A prominent family like ours is a dog-eat-dog world,” Kiernan continued, looking at his determined granddaughter. “If you want others to respect you, admire you, and fear you, you must have real skills to back it up. That is the first lesson I will teach you as my granddaughter.”

Larissa smiled. “Grandpa, you worry too much. The environment I grew up in was far more ruthless than this. I understand the basics of survival.”

After a pause, she added, “Honora’s skills are mostly for pleasing others. My skills are the kind that make others come to me for help.”
