Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 50

At the mention of the fortune, Paxton’s attention sharpened.

“I’m getting old,” Kiernan began. “I don’t know how many years I have left, so it’s time to speak plainly. The Judson family fortune will go to those who are capable. Those who are not should know their place and stay out of trouble. At the very least, you will always live a comfortable life in this family.”

Paxton shot a sidelong glance at his older brother. “Did you hear that, Bro? The incapable should know their place, and at least they’ll be comfortable.”

Neville didn’t respond.

But Larissa did. She cast a scornful look at Paxton and muttered, “A buffoon on a stage.”

Paxton’s brow furrowed. “Larissa!”

“Don’t yell at me, Uncle Paxton. You don’t have the right.” Larissa waved the freshly signed disownment agreement.

“Enough,” Kiernan said, turning to Larissa’s new family. “You two may go. I need to speak with Larissa alone.”

After leaving the ancestral hall, Paxton turned to his brother with a tone of mock sympathy. “Bro, you heard what Dad said. You understand what he means, don’t you?”
