Left Them Loved Myself (Stella Spencer) novel Chapter 104

“It’s fine, Mrs. Spencer. You guys go ahead and eat,” Erica said as she stepped outside with her phone.

She called her dad back, and he picked up immediately. His voice was stern and full of authority. “Erical Russell, come home. Now.”

“Dad, what’s going on at home?” Erica asked, her brows furrowing.

Her dad was clearly angry. “So you’re just hoping something goes wrong at home? Is that it?”

“If nothing’s going on, then why are you calling me home?” Erica retorted.

“With all the trouble you’re causing, it won’t be long before the Russell family goes head–to–head with the Lloyds. So get home, stay there, and don’t go anywhere. No exceptions,” her dad snapped.

“No way,” Erica shot back, rolling her eyes. “Besides, the Russell family isn’t exactly scared of the Lloyds.”

Cody Russell was so furious he nearly lost it. “What did I do to deserve a daughter like you?” he muttered, totally fed up.

Erica pushed her luck. “Dad, since you already know what’s going on, why not help Stella out? You know she’s my best friend.”

“Not a chance,” Cody shot back. “This mess is way too complicated. That jewelry show was filled with the city’s most influential people–owners, heirs, socialites. Now they’re accusing Stella of hiring a hitman…”

“Dad, Stella didn’t do it,” Erica cut him off, sounding desperate.

“Got any proof?” Cody challenged.

“They’re still looking into it,” Erica said, trying to sound hopeful.

“But all the evidence, the motives, everything points to her. The authorities have made her their prime suspect,” Cody shot back. Given his connections, it was easy for him to find out all this.

“I believe in Stella. She could never do something like this,” Erica insisted.

“You believing her doesn’t change anything,” Cody said, sounding exhausted. “It’s the other powerful families that need to believe her. If they won’t believe her, then Stella’s actions have already crossed a line. She’s made herself a target for all of them.

“If it was just the Lloyd family, I could help her for your sake. But right now, every influential family in

Seabrook has turned on her.

“Without the government’s intervention to keep the Lloyd Group, Lumière Group, and the Spencer family from tearing each other apart, the Spencer family would already be finished.”

Cody spelled it all out, making it painfully obvious just how dangerous this whole thing really was.

But Erica just brushed it off. “Then just disown me, Dad. That way, whatever I do won’t drag the Russell family

into it.”

“Why do you always have to be so single–minded about this? Cody grumbled, completely baffled. “Is she seriously that important to you? Is she really worth all this chaos?”

“Absolutely.” Erica answered, zero hesitation. “She’s like a family to me. I can’t sit back and watch her struggle”

Cody sighed heavily, paused for a few moments, then said with resignation. “Just give me any reason at all to help her

Erica didn’t hesitate. “Dad, remember when you and Mom were always busy with work? Stella was the one who stayed with me. When I envied other kids going to the amusement park with their parents, she took me.

They didn’t say anything more. After hanging up. Erica was about to head back inside when she noticed someone walking out of the room next door.

7s be coming straight for me? Erica thought, a little uncertain. So she simply stopped and waited.

The man stopped in front of her, and for a few seconds, they just stared at each other in complete silence, neither speaking.

Erica tried to hold her gaze, but her eyes started to burn. Just as she was about to break the silence, the man suddenly walked away, leaving her confused.

What the hell was that? Did he honestly just walk over here just to challenge me to a staring duel?‘ she thought.

“So weird, Erica grumbled, heading back into the hospital ward.

She didn’t notice that the guy was actually heading in the direction of the eye doctor’s office.

When dinner time rolled around, Marvin and Evelyn arrived right on time, with Harvey limping behind them, clearly having been through some trouble.

He set the food on the table and gave Stella a pitiful look. “Stella, you’ve put me through so much trouble. Don’t you think you owe me some compensation?”

“Sure,” Stella said with a smile. “What do you want, Harvey? Whatever I’ve got, it’s yours.”
