Love beyond the mask (Whitney) novel Chapter 1222

4 a.m.

Emma jolted awake and immediately started dialing the two media execs she’d spoken to earlier that night.

On the other end, orders were being handed down.

The old lady, wide awake and tense, sat in her bedroom, her gaze dark and brooding as she waited in silence.

She glanced at Sienna’s number on her phone—considered calling, but didn’t.

Sienna must be exhausted, she reasoned.

Still, if the girl had to eat a little dirt tonight, it’d be worth it. As long as Shane woke up tomorrow with her by his side, the Nelson family couldn’t deny it any longer.

Sienna would officially be the Nelson family’s daughter-in-law—done deal!

With the Nelsons backing her up, dealing with that stubborn Whitney would be so much easier.

The old lady still nursed a grudge over Florence’s death.

No way was she going to just sit back and watch Hudson Sheldon hand the entire Sheldon fortune to Whitney!

“Sienna, you better not let me down…”

Meanwhile.

Outside Shane’s apartment building, Whitney parked her car under a tree, a safe distance away.

Felix and the bodyguards, who’d already retreated from the front entrance, were waiting quietly in the hallway.

Whitney narrowed her sharp hazel eyes, glancing up at the twelfth floor, where the hallway lights flickered on and off.

A sly smile ghosted across her full lips.

She got out, striding toward Felix and the others.

Time for a little game of cat, mouse, and fox.

Up on the twelfth floor.

“That must be the bedroom.”

“Kick it open! We need clear shots of their faces in bed!”

The noise was deafening. The master bedroom door was kicked wide open.

Sandy was trapped in a nightmare—pain gnawed at her, her head throbbed, and she was helpless to wake up. Suddenly, a barrage of blinding flashes pierced her eyelids.

She struggled, then slowly forced open her swollen, red-rimmed eyes…

“Yep, that’s Shane! Flip the girl over—get a shot of them together, faces front!”

The paparazzi were frantically snapping away, uploading everything in real time.

Back at the apartment entrance, Whitney glanced at the broken door without a hint of hurry.

With Felix and the bodyguards in tow, she strode upstairs, calm and collected.

The bedroom was chaos—shutters clicking nonstop. Whitney checked her phone, saw Shane’s name trending, and growled, “They’ve got what they came for. Let’s go in and round up these vultures.”
