Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 305

Amelia jolted in shock.

She’d known this confrontation was coming, but Daniel’s presence was still terrifying—like he might pull a knife any second and turn the room into a crime scene.

She grabbed at his arm, trying to pry it down. “Daniel, are you insane? Let go of him!”

Daniel’s eyes blazed with a blood-red intensity as he tilted his head to look at her. “What? Feeling sorry for him?”

Amelia’s breath came unevenly. “This is between us. Leave him out of it.”

Daniel didn’t loosen his grip. “You care about him, don’t you?”

A twisted smile curled over his lips, and the red in his eyes only deepened. “Amelia, aren’t I the victim here? Why is it him you worry about, and not me?”

“Yes, you’re the victim and I’m the villain.” Amelia’s fingers dug at his hand, leaving angry red marks. “Let him go. If you’re angry, take it out on me. I’m the one who messed up—if you want to yell, want to hit someone, do it to me.”

Daniel was suddenly struck by a miserable realization: he could imagine hurting anyone else, but not Amelia. No matter what she’d done, no matter how she pushed him, he couldn’t bring himself to lay a finger on her.

Amelia, desperate and unable to break free, did the only thing left—she bit down hard.

Daniel’s grip loosened instantly. In a single motion, he hoisted her over his shoulder and strode away.

The world spun wildly for Amelia, her stomach pressed painfully against his solid shoulder.

“Amelia!” Robert called, rushing after them.

Daniel’s voice cut through the air, cold as the underside of a glacier. “Didn’t you say to take it all out on you? Fine. Before I change my mind and kill him, tell your friend to get lost. The farther, the better.”

Amelia’s stomach threatened to revolt, but she managed a frantic wave at Robert, signaling him to stop.

Robert hesitated, worry etched on his face, still wanting to follow. Amelia fought down her nausea and shook her head, begging him not to come any closer.

Her plan had worked. She couldn’t drag Robert into this any further.

She was sure Daniel wouldn’t actually hurt her—but she couldn’t guarantee what he’d do if he lost control with Robert in the way.

She’d thought he just wanted a place to talk. But what happened next was nothing like she expected.

Daniel unlocked the door with one hand, nudged it closed with his foot, and—without putting her down—headed straight for the bathroom.

A flicker of dread ran through her. Then she heard the rush of running water.

Before she could say a word, Daniel tossed her into the bathtub. The water was already several inches deep; her pants were soaked through in an instant. Furious and bewildered, she glared up at him.

“What the hell is wrong with you?”

As she stared, Amelia realized just how wild Daniel’s eyes looked, swirling with a storm darker than she’d ever seen.

Her heart skipped. She tried to scramble out, but Daniel pressed her shoulders, holding her down.

“Daniel—” There was fear in her voice now—not for herself, but for whatever he might do next. “Don’t do anything stupid!”
