Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 341

Mogan instinctively reached out to steady Amelia, wanting to get a better look at her, but before his hand could reach her, a powerful force blocked his way.

Daniel stepped in, his presence forceful even as his tone was lazily dismissive. “That’s my wife you’re reaching for—watch where you put your hands.”

By now, Amelia had already straightened up and left the room without even glancing at them.

Daniel strode after her, leaving Mogan standing there, brow furrowed in thought.

Violet had missed the whole interaction and looked at him in confusion. “Mogan, are you okay?”

For once, Mogan concealed what was on his mind. “It’s nothing.”

Violet glanced at Daniel’s retreating figure, then at the wreckage scattered around the room. Her heart felt as if it had been weighed down by a thousand tiny pebbles. Amelia had barged in, screaming and smashing things, leaving her apartment in ruins, yet Daniel didn’t seem the least bit interested in holding anyone accountable. He just brushed it off as if it were nothing, and Violet simply couldn’t accept that.

The thought made her break down again, her hope for justice now resting with Mogan. “Mogan... what am I supposed to do now?”

Mogan let out a quiet sigh. “This was Daniel’s place to begin with. Come on—I’ll help you pack your things. I’ll find you somewhere else to stay.”

Violet blinked, startled. Was he really just letting it go? Mogan, who never let anyone so much as look at her the wrong way, was just going to turn a blind eye to what Amelia did?

No, this wasn’t right at all.

She watched Mogan’s back as he walked toward the bedroom, a new kind of panic rising in her chest—something she’d never felt before.

Daniel caught up with Amelia just as she yanked open the car door. He slammed it shut before she could get in, pressing her gently but firmly against the side of the car.

His laid-back attitude never failed to infuriate Amelia. “Yeah, I’m falling for your mother!”

“Well, that depends on if my dad’s okay with it,” Daniel replied with a click of his tongue, pinching her cheek. “Though I doubt he would be. That’d get the family tree all mixed up. Better stick with loving me.”

There was nothing more to say. Any more words would just make her angrier. Amelia shoved him hard, got in the car, and drove off.

Daniel watched her car disappear down the street. The nonchalance slipped from his face as he pulled out his phone and made a call.

“You can’t find a single lead? What do you people do all day, just eat and twiddle your thumbs?”

Cedric, who’d been up all night tracking the kidnappers and had barely managed two hours’ sleep before sitting down to breakfast, stared at his phone in silence.
