Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 372

Violet had been in the hospital for nearly two weeks. The wound on her hand had finally healed, but her leg was still recovering, so she’d have to use a wheelchair for a while longer.

Mogan packed up her things for discharge. Meanwhile, Violet kept glancing at the door, hoping Daniel would appear in the doorway—just once before she left.

But no matter how long she waited, he never showed up.

The disappointment on her face was unmistakable.

Trying to lift her spirits, Mogan changed the subject. "I’ve arranged for a housekeeper to help out at home. If you need anything, just ask her and get some rest. And since you love to paint, I’ve turned the spare room into an art studio. You can let your imagination run wild there."

At the mention of painting, Violet lowered her gaze and looked at the scar on her wrist. The wound had closed up, but the scar remained, jagged and ugly.

It was impossible to miss—even Daniel would notice it. He’d probably think it was unsightly.

“Mogan, I want to see a dermatologist. Maybe they can do something about the scar.”

“Of course,” Mogan said, wheeling her out of the room.

The best cosmetic doctor in Silkwood was notoriously hard to book, but after pulling a few strings and paying extra, Mogan managed to secure an appointment for the next day.

The doctor was a woman in her forties, with flawless skin and a warm smile. As Violet entered, she greeted her cheerfully. “Long time no see! What can I do for you this time?”

Violet hesitated. “Do we know each other?”

“Ms. Turner, of course I know you.”

Violet froze, puzzled. The doctor quickly added, “How’s the birthmark removal from last time? Still happy with it?”

Birthmark?

She hesitated, then added, “I’m sorry, but that’s confidential information. I can’t discuss my patients.”

Mogan pulled a thick wad of cash from his pocket and nudged it across the desk. “Doctor, Amelia is my ex-girlfriend. I always thought the birthmark on her back was beautiful. I just want to know if you did the procedure. That’s all.”

The doctor took the money quietly, not seeming to suspect anything. “Your ex-girlfriend, huh? Then you must have seen that birthmark plenty of times. My technique is the best in the city—making a birthmark look natural is no easy feat, but here in Silkwood, I’m second to none. So for your friend’s scar treatment, you have nothing to worry about. I guarantee results.”

After dropping Violet off at home, Mogan sat alone in his car for a long time, lost in thought.

A tangled mess of emotions churned inside him.

In these two weeks, even though he hadn’t found any concrete evidence, a quiet voice in the back of his mind kept whispering that coincidences like this just didn’t happen. How could two women look so alike—and have the same birthmark?

The more he thought about it, the more certain he became that Amelia was Rose. It was like he was brainwashing himself, slowly accepting the possibility that Amelia and Rose were one and the same.
