Amelia swatted the toast toward Daniel, but he caught her wrist and, without missing a beat, took a bite straight from her hand. Utterly content, he grinned. “My wife knows me best—feeding me breakfast because she knows I always skip it.”
With her free hand, Amelia reached for the jam knife, but Daniel stopped her again. “There’s plenty of sweetness already. I’m still tasting last night’s,” he teased, making her flush.
That was it—Amelia was mortified. Satisfied, Daniel let go of her wrist. “Alright, I’ll stop bothering you. Enjoy your breakfast. I’m off.”
And off he really went, thankfully—otherwise there was no way Amelia could have finished her meal.
There wasn’t much to prep for the shoot, so after breakfast, Amelia grabbed her bag and headed out.
But when she got to the driveway, her car was nowhere to be found.
A housekeeper hurried over. “Ma’am, your car was filthy—it’s over there getting a deep clean.”
Amelia searched her bag, only to realize her car keys were missing too.
Honestly, there was only one person in the house sneaky enough to pull something like this. She didn’t even need to guess.
Just then, a sparkling clean Maybach pulled up in front of her, the window rolling down to reveal Daniel’s annoyingly perfect face.
“Looks like mine’s the only car ready, Chief Amelia. Care to do me the honor?”
She turned away, intent on heading for the gate, but Daniel called after her, “You’ll have a hard time getting a cab around here. Probably a ten-minute wait at least. Just treat me like your chauffeur—leave a bad review if you’re not satisfied, I promise not to say a word.”
Amelia glanced at her watch. If she waited for a ride, she’d probably be late—and she hated the idea of making everyone wait for her.

The coincidence was almost comical.
Well, it was just an accident. She’d have to change for the shoot anyway; no one would notice a detail like that.
Or so she thought—

The team took a closer look, then nodded in agreement. The stylist beamed. “Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled with the traditional outfit I’d planned—but this, this is just perfect.”

How come in every novel I read on here the women don’t tell the men they are the father of their child? I find this ridiculous....
